Pope Benedict faces child abuse cover-up queries

Questions are being raised about whether Pope Benedict was personally involved in covering up a case of child sex abuse by a Roman Catholic priest.

Documents seen by the New York Times newspaper suggest that in the 1990s, long before he became Pope, he failed to respond to letters about a US case.

Fr Lawrence Murphy, of Wisconsin, was accused of abusing up to 200 deaf boys.

Defending itself, the Vatican said US civil authorities had investigated and dropped the case.

Alleged victims quoted by the New York Times gave accounts of the priest pulling down their trousers and touching them in his office, his car, his mother's country house, on class excursions and fund-raising trips, and in their dormitory beds at night.

Four American campaigners for the victims of clerical sex abuse were this morning detained by police after holding an "unauthorised" demonstration on the edge of St Peter's Square to protest against decades of Church "silence".

Barbara Blaine, Peter Isely, John Pilmaier and Barbara Dorris from the Chicago-based Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (SNAP) were talking to reporters about sex abuse cases, including revelations by the New York Times about the alleged role of Pope Benedict XVI in covering up the case of the late Father Lawrence Murphy in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, when they were approached by police and asked for their passports.

They were then taken away in a police car. Barbara Blaine, the leader of SNAP, was heard several times asking the police what they had done wrong. Before being detained the group held up banners reading "Stop the secrecy now" and "Expose the truth", and accused Pope Benedict of having imposed secrecy on clerical sex abuse cases when he was head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith before being elected Pope five years ago.

Worshippers revolt in church as German Catholic leaders admit abuse

Archbishop Robert Zollitsch said that the Church had committed serious mistakes and done too little to help the victims of abuse

German Catholic leaders openly admitted for the first time today that the Church betrayed and abused children in its care.

The admission by Archbishop Robert Zollitsch, chairman of the German Bishops' Conference, came as Catholic priests across the country called on their congregations to pray for abused children.

But in many churches worshippers took the unusual step of expressing their unhappiness with the Church's management of the crisis.

Archbishop Zollitsch said that the Church had committed serious mistakes and done too little to help the victims of priestly abuse. “The caring responsibility towards the victims was insufficient in the past because of our own disappointment at the painful failure of the perpetrators, and out of a falsely understood concern for the standing of the church," he said

It was as close as the Church in Germany has come to admitting that it covered up crimes committed by priests.

That, he said, was the "painful reality that we have to face up to". The Archbishop's words were notably blunter than those used by the Pope the previous day.

On Maundy Thursday he did not refer directly to the child abuse revelations now spreading across continents and confined himself to calling on Christians to respect the law.

Archbishop Zollitsch has already had to apologise for not turning over a paedophile priest in his diocese to the state prosecutor.

On Thursday France became the latest European country to implicate paedophile priests, one accused of assaulting a boy in 1992 and 1993 and another of possessing pornographic images of minors.

At the Jesuit-run Saint Canesius church in Berlin, worshippers at the Good Friday High Mass were asked to pray for Pope Benedict and the bishops of the church.

The priest appealed: "Let us pray for the children who have been done great injustice within the church community, who were abused and damaged in body and soul and for those who have sinned against children and others in their care." Half of the congregation, perhaps 150 people, remained silently standing in a rare flash of defiance. Similar scenes were reported from across the country.

More than 20 out of 27 dioceses had agreed to integrate the prayers into the service. The formula — openly acknowledging the victimhood of the children molested by priests — had been worked out by Stephan Ackermann, Bishop of Trier, the Church's expert on abuse. Last week he introduced a hotline for victims and found that 20 of the callers claimed to have been abused in his own diocese.

"No, the prayer for the children wasn't a surprise," said one of the Berlin worshippers. “It was relief. But did you notice there were only three families in the congregation? That was unusual here. But, at the moment, churches are not places you take children." The victim hotline, belatedly set up, was a defensive move, the act of a church at bay. Non-Catholic organisations are already operating dedicated phonelines and encouraging victims to step forward, name names, and make claims for financial compensation. The abuse victims — well over 300 in Germany — are starting to mobilise and to lose their fear of public embarrassment.

"We are learning daily about the methods of education in Catholic institutions in Austria in the 1960s and 1970s," said Holger Eich, working a hotline for the Austrian group Platform for Victims of Violence by the Church. About 174 cases have come forward in the past fortnight.

"These methods can be summed up in one word — sadism," Dr Eich added.

Public opinion in the German-speaking Catholic world has rarely been so nakedly hostile to the Church. The German and Austrian Church leaderships thus decided that they should use Easter to apologise and admit mistakes rather than wait for a declaration from the Pope.

Archbishop Zollitsch told of the Church's "mourning, outrage and shame . . . wounds have been ripped open that can no longer be healed".

The new candour of the Church could, the Archbishop said, mark a new beginning. "That is something that we all so desperately need."

John Allen, the Vatican commentator, said yesterday that the crisis had taken an enormous financial toll. The current estimate is that dioceses, religious orders, and other Catholic institutions in America have paid $2.5 billion (£1.6 billion) in settlements, with perhaps another $1 billion on the table in pending lawsuits. Seven dioceses and a religious order have declared bankruptcy.

Mr Allen wrote on the Washington Post website: "This crisis has taken a terrible toll on the Catholic Church and I suspect it's far from over. While the crisis has erupted in the United States and parts of Europe, it really hasn't yet reached the southern hemisphere ... Latin America, Africa and Asia . . . where two thirds of the 1.1 billion Catholics today live.”

நான் சைவசமயத்தவனாகவிருந்தாலும் அன்னை மேரியையும் யேசுவையும் வழிபடுபவன். அனைத்து மதங்களும் மனிதர்களை நல்வழிப்படுத்தி இறைவனை அடைவதற்காகவே என்பதை உணர்ந்தவன். காலத்துக்கு காலம் அந்த மதங்களில் செல்வாக்கு செலுத்துபவர்களால் ஒரு சில நம்பிக்கைகள் வழிமுறைகள் ஏற்படுத்தப்படுகின்றன. அவை பிற்போக்குத்தனமானதாகவோ மூட நம்பிக்கைகளாகவோ இருக்கும்பட்சத்தில் அவற்றை விமர்சிக்க வேண்டுமே தவிர அந்த மதத்தையல்ல.

Verona deaf school ex-pupils tell Italian TV of sex abuse by priests

The sex abuse scandal in the Roman Catholic Church came to the Pope’s doorstep last night as a group of victims appeared on Italian television to claim that two dozen priests had for decades abused children at a school for the deaf in Verona.

Three former pupils of the Antonio Provolo school who spoke on RAI, the state broadcaster, confirmed allegations made in a signed statement last year by 67 ex-pupils who described a regime of sexual abuse, paedophilia and corporal punishment from the 1950s to the 1980s. They said that 24 priests and lay brothers from the Company of Mary order were involved.

The three said that the priests had “fondled and masturbated” them as well as sodomising them in dormitories, bathrooms and the priests’ quarters.

Among the accused is Monsignor Giuseppe Carraro, Bishop of Verona from 1958-78, who died in 1981 and whom the local diocese has sought to have beatified, a crucial step on the road to sainthood.

Gianni Bisoli, 62, one of the victims, told viewers he had attended the school from the ages of nine to fifteen and had first been “the object of sexual attentions” three months after he arrived.

“I was sodomised and forced to have oral sex and masturbated by friars and lay brothers” he said, naming 14 of them. “From the age of 11 to 13, I was accompanied on several occasions to the apartments of the bishop of Verona, where the bishop himself sodomised me and made me have other kinds of sexual relations”.

Alessandro Vantini, 60, another victim at the school, who earlier said: “You couldn’t tell your parents because the priests would beat you”, told the programme he was at the school from the ages of 6 to 19. He said until he was ten he was “repeatedly sodomised” by two priests and two lay brothers. “This violence took place in the bathrooms and bedrooms and sometimes in the school church.”

Dario Laiti, 60, told viewers he had been molested at the Verona school and at a summer camp for deaf mutes. All three — speaking with difficulty — said they “wanted justice”.

The present Bishop of Verona, Mgr Giuseppe Zenti, initially accused the former pupils of “hallucinating”. However, the diocese had to open an inquiry after one of the accused lay brothers admitted sexual relations with pupils. Last summer the diocese forwarded its files on the abuse to the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, which took no action until last month when Cardinal William Levada, Pope Benedict’s successor as head of the congregation, agreed it was “opportune to proceed” with an inquiry.

Bruno Fasani, spokesman for the Verona Diocese, said it had not taken action earlier because it had not known how to contact the victims. Marco Lodi Rizzini, spokesman for the victims, dismissed this, saying he had personally spoken to Bishop Zenti twice about the accusations and sent him details.

The case echoes one in America in which the Pope has been accused of failing to act against a priest who molested 200 boys at a school for the deaf in Wisconsin. The New York Times this week revealed that a church prosecution of Father Lawrence Murphy for sex offences between 1950 to 1974 was halted after he appealed to Benedict, then Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, as head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, the office charged with disciplining clergy.

The Italian Bishops Conference said yesterday it was forming a “task force” to collect evidence of paedophilia.

Corriere della Sera said that the tide of allegations in the US and Europe had finally “reached [Pope Benedict's] window above St Peter’s Square [with] destructive force”. The best response was not to “withdraw into the fortress and shout about plots” but to hide nothing, the newspaper said.

The Church’s account of what Benedict had known about a paedophile priest in Germany was called into question yesterday. Father Peter Hullermann was given sanctuary in 1980 in the Munich Diocese for “therapy” after molesting a boy. ஸ்ரீவில்லிபுத்தூர், ஜூலை 2: கொடைக்கானலில் பள்ளி மாணவிக்கு பாலியல் தொல்லை கொடுத்த வழக்கில் தேடப்பட்டுவந்த தாளாளர் பிரைட் (73) ஸ்ரீவில்லிபுத்தூர் நீதிமன்றத்தில் வெள்ளிக்கிழமை சரணடைந்தார். அவரை 15 நாள் காவலில் வைக்க நீதிபதி உத்தரவிட்டார்.

இந் நிலையில், தாளாளருக்கு உதவியதாக, அப் பள்ளியின் முதல்வரும் வியாழக்கிழமை நள்ளிரவில் கைது செய்யப்பட்டார்.

கொடைக்கானல் கே.பி.எஸ். பள்ளியில் படித்து வந்த பூடான் நாட்டு மாணவியிடம் அப் பள்ளியின் தாளாளர் பிரைட் தகாத முறையில் நடக்க முயன்றாராம். இதற்கு மாணவி உடன்படாததால், பிரைட் மாணவிக்குத் தொடர்ந்து பாலியல் தொல்லை கொடுத்து வந்தாராம்.

TN: Police arrest KPS school principal for helping 'molester'DINDIGUL: The principal of a public school in Kodaikanal was arrested today in connection with a sexual harassment case filed against her father, M L Bright, by a Bhutanese girl student.

The Principal Sheefa Paul was produced before a court which remanded her to 15 days judicial custody.

After her arrest, Paul had complained of chest pain and was taken to a doctor, who certified that she was in 'good health', police said.

Bright, the school administrator, is facing the charge of sexually harassing the girl in the hostel located in the hill resort town of Kodaikanal, 60 kms from here.

The anticipatory bail application of 76-year-old Bright will come up for hearing on July five before the Madras High Court bench here.

A case had been registered against Bright under Sec 354 (outraging modesty of woman by assaulting or using criminal force) and Sec 4 of Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act 1998, on a complaint filed by the guardian of the 14-year old student on June 18.

Bright has been absconding since then. The girl, staying along with 17 others at the house of Bright, which was converted into a hostel, had accused him of sexually harassing her on June 3.

In his petition in the court, Bright said the girl was paying Rs 500 per month as hostel fees but as she did not pay the amount for three months, she was accommodated in the "free hostel". As the student did not agree to it, her guardian sought Transfer Certificate on June 16 and lodged a police complaint two days later alleging he misbehaved with the girl.

மேலும் லலிதாவை பற்றி போலீசார் விசாரித்த போது, பல திடுக்கிடும் தகவல்கள் போலீசாருக்கு கிடைத்துள்ளது. குழந்தை கடத்தல் கும்பலுக்கு தலைவி போல் செயல்பட்டவர் லலிதா. இவருக்கு குழந்தைகளை கடத்தி தந்தவர் தான் கிரிஜா, தனலட்சுமி, ஆகியோர் குழந்தைகளை கடத்தி ரூ.20 ஆயிரம் முதல் ரூ. 1 லட்சம் வரை விற்றுள்ளனர். இதன் மூலம் லலிதாவிற்கு பணம் குவிந்துள்ளது.

8-ம் வகுப்பு வரை மட்டுமே படித்துள்ள லலிதாவின் தற்போதைய சொத்து மதிப்பு கோடிக்கணக்கில் இருக்கும் என்று போலீசார் தெரிவிக்கின்றனர். தற்போது புதுச்சேரி பகுதியில் புதிதாக கல்யாண மண்டபம் ஒன்றையும் கட்டி வருகிறார். இவருக்கு கிரிஜா தவிர தமிழகத்தில் மற்ற குழந்தை கடத்தல் கும்பலுக்கும் தொடர்பு இருக்கலாம் என்று போலீசார் சந்தேகப்படுகின்றனர்.

குறிப்பாக பெங்களூரில் உள்ள குழந்தை இல்லாத தம்பதிகளுக்கு குழந்தைகளை அதிக விலைக்கு விற்று இருப்பதாகவும் தெரிய வந்துள்ளது. மேலும் புதுச்சேரியில் தனக்கு உள்ள தொடர்புகளை வைத்து பிரான்ஸ், போன்ற வெளிநாடுகளுக்கு குழந்தைகளை கடத்தி விற்று இருக்கலாம் என்ற கோணத்திலும் போலீசார் விசாரித்து வருகின்றனர். காரணம் லலிதாவின் சொத்து மதிப்பை பார்க்கும் போது அவர், வெளிநாடுகளுக்கு குழந்தைகளை விற்று கோடி, கோடியாய் பணம் சம்பாதித்து இருக்கலாம் என்று போலீசார் சந்தேகிக்கின்றனர்.

லலிதாவை போலீஸ் காவலில் விசாரிக்கவும் போலீசார் முடிவு செய்துள்ளனர். இதற்காக நாளை அல்லது மறுநாள் கோர்ட்டில் மனுதாக்கல் செய்கிறார்கள். போலீஸ் விசாரணையில் லலிதா பற்றி மேலும் பல திடுக்கிடும் தகவல்கள் வெளியாகும் என்று தெரிகிறது.

CHENNAI: With the busting of the illegal child adoption racket, the Guild of Service(GoS), an NGO, has found itself in the news for all the wrong reasons, for social worker Shaila Samuel, working with it, used the children’s home inmates to give them up for adoption through unlawful means.

She used the agency’s name, stamp, other related documents, such as authorisation letters and the NGO’s registration certificate to carry out her work.

K N George, honorary secretary of the NGO, has given in writing to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) that Shaila had carried out all the activities without his knowledge.

The senior officer of the Social Welfare Department, who illegally adopted Sweety, claimed that it was Shaila who had cheated saying that all documents for adoption had been cleared, according to Manorama, chairperson of CWC, Chennai.

Four children who had gone missing from the GoS had been put up at children’s homes following referrals by the Sheela Hospital, where Parveen Banu had given birth to her child, Sweety. The NGO’s involvement in the racket was unearthed after the CWC found out that Sweety had been illegally put up for adoption after duping her parents. The four were routed through Salem Missionaries of Charities and Cheshire Homes of India at Thiruvanmiyur and later to the GoS.

In Sweety’s case, the hospital has given the wrong diagnosis to the parents in 2005 saying their baby suffered from an incurable ailment and would die soon after birth. The hospital had even obtained release forms from them, in which they stated they were willingly giving their child up for adoption.

However, five years later, Sweety is still healthy. In the other two cases, the hospital had failed to provide proper details such as the parents’ address to a probation officer of the CWC, Coimbatore, said Manomara.

Shaila had cheated two other women in another case gave their children for adoption without the committee’s knowledge, she said, adding, “We suspect Shaila has links with NGOs and the hospital in Coimbatore.” Manorama said the committee had referred the case to the city police.

CHENNAI: A woman social worker of Chennai, working with a licensed adoption agency, has been found operating a child adoption racket through a reputed child adoption home, without anybody there the wiser, i.e., till now.

“Shaila Samuel, social worker, working with Guild of Service (GoS), used the agency’s name, stamp and other related documents such as authorization letter signed by K N George, Honorary Secretary of the GoS, and its registration certificate to carry out the unlawful adoptions,” said Dr P Manorama, chairperson of Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Chennai.

When members of CWC went to meet five children from Coimbatore and Salem in the GoS, entrusted with the temporary custody of the children, the members were shocked to find that the children were not at the home and that there was no mention of their names in the admission register or on any other document.

The children were earlier housed at Cheshire Home in Tiruvanmiyurand both, the Social Welfare Department and the CWC, had cleared their names for adoption, but with the caveat that the children would be given care and adoption would not be processed without its knowledge.

“Records showed that the children were not kept at the home. A child named ‘Thaneer’ was given away in adoption several months ago without legal clearance,” George has given in writing to the Child Welfare Committee.

Thiruvananthapuram: Police in Kerala have registered cases of attempted rape and sexual abuse against two councillors of a rehabiliation centre allegedly associated with a Christian Ashram in Agali in Palakkad district.The case follows a complaint filed by five girls who managed to flee from the Centre unable to bear the constant abuse heaped on them by the Brothers.
We have registered four cases of sexual abuse and one case of attemptedrape against Patrick and Joshi,who were councillors at the Raksha Villa centre, Agali sub inspector of police P M Gopakumar said.The centre,police sources said,was associated with an Ashram run by missionaries in Agali.The accused are yet to be traced,he added.Thefive harassed girls,who hail from Ernakulam district,had run away from the centre,which basically functions as a counselling centre,and landed at the Olavakkode railway station in Palakkad where they were discovered by the Railway Police personnel.They were then taken to the Agali police station where their statements were recorded.
They escaped from the centre with the help of a local panchayat committee member at 2 am on June 26 and managed to reach Coimbatore.As they did not have the money to pay for auto,the girls gave their gold ring.The girls,who were victims of jilted love affairs,had been sent to the centre by their parents for counselling.They were let off with their parents after recording of statement.

Palakkad: Five girls who escaped from sexual abuse by Pastors in Agali Assissi ‘Ashram’ are now under the custody of Kerala police. Girls of age range 16 to 23 were later handed over to Parents. Girls who were handed over to this Ashram by their own parents for spiritual upliftment reported to Police that they were undergoing sexual upliftment over there along with mental and physical torture.

All the girls are from Ernakulam district. As reported by girls to the Police, they were molested by three pastors as Patrick, Rexi and Johny. There are 50 children who are undergoing sexual abuse in this ‘brothel’ centre in the name of counselling and spiritualism.

Earlier also there were several complaints against this Assissi Ashram for torturing their inmates. Thanks to higher secular consciousness of Keralites no cases were registered against this torture centre.24 X7 Kerala based media channels also are keeping a shameless silence in highlighting this repeated incidents of sexual abuse reported from these so called Christian spiritual centres.

Even in the way certain print media’s report they purposefully black out that this ASHRAM is ran by Christians. The title in one of the popular daily goes like this – “Abuse in Ashram, Escaped girls under Police custody “. So it is upto the reader to find out whether this ‘Ashram’ belong to Hindus or Christians. Atleast Muslims keep their individuality and names their institutions in Arabic , unlike Christians who shamelessly use Sanskrit words with the sole aim of duping gullible Hindus. Father Habib Joseph -Kerala priest held for sexual abuse of minor

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A Kerala Christian priest has been arrested for alleged sexual abuse of a minor girl inmate of a hostel run by Orthodox Church at Pothukal in Malappuram district in September last year. The victim is a student of Catholicate Higher Secondary School run by the church.

Father K G Joseph alias Father Habib Joseph was arrested and produced in a local court on Thursday. He, however, was granted bail. Joseph later denied charges. Crime Branch sources said the priest was charged under Section 354 IPC (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), a bailable offence.

Police are also probing the “unnatural” death of the girl’s elder sister, who “succumbed” to suspected food poisoning at hostel in October last year. A few days after her death, the 14-year-old class IX student had alleged that she and her elder sister Anu were made to wash feet and massage Joseph and another priest who was a regular visitor to the hostel and that it often ended up with them being sexually harassed.

Though they took up the matter with a nun, she instead of helping, threatened them with dire consequences, the girl had alleged. The two sisters belonging to a poor family of Kelakam in Kannur district thought it better to resign to their fate as otherwise they would have had to discontinue studies.

Sixteen-year-old Anu, a class XI student, died on October 24, 2009. Soon after her death her younger sister had told reporters in the presence of her father that Anju was taken out in a car by the second priest on October 21 and they returned late in the night. Anu looked very tired and was crying and didn’t eat anything the next day. This infuriated the nun who beat her up, she had alleged.

The torture was so brutal that there were blood stains on the wall of Anu’s room, she had alleged.

Reason for death according to Brothel authorities – Respiratory block while eating Halwa!

2010 February – Yes, after more than two years report from Forensic laboratory reveals that the death was not because of choking due to stuck Halwa as reported earlier, but because of something else. Report reveals that the girl was repeatedly tortured sexually and the death happened following multiple rapes.

2010 June – After Four months since report is submitted Police registered case against the centre- For Rape and murder of a mentally retarded girl.

Yes, the pastors in the brothel centre were celebrating their Christmas on this orphaned mentally retarded girl and she passed away as a result of their continued celebration for 3 days.

Earlier this girl was enrolled into this brothel by our own Police for protection!

Questions which we never get answers

1)Why it took more than two years for this report to come out.
2)Even though the report came out in February it has been revealed to public only now.
3)Who gave Police the right to recruit sex slaves to these brothels operated by Christian missionaries in the name of Charity and Service?
4)Why media is not ready to identify such centres with Christianity but merely as Ashrams ?

Another Catholic nun has committed suicide in Keral, and Church people in the southern Indian state see part of the problem as lying within convent life.

“Some situations drive nuns to suicide,” says Montfort Brother Varghese Theckenath, president of the Conference of Religious India (CRI), the national association of Catholic Religious. “We are honest to admit the problem and we have to sort it out,” he told UCA News.

Kerala generates the most male and female Religious in India. Brother Theckenath says the state has 33,226 nuns. According to the 2006 CRI directory, India has 102,810 nuns and 7,216 novices.

According to Joseph Pulikunnel, a Catholic lay leader who edits Osanna (Hosanna) magazine, Kerala has recorded 15 cases of suicide among nuns in the past 12 years. The latest was Clarist Sister Lisa, whose body was found on June 23 in the guestroom of her convent near Kottayam, 2,650 kilometers south of New Delhi.

The police found a suicide note that cited disappointment in life as the reason the 34-year-old nun took the extreme step. An autopsy showed no wounds on her body. Police official P.B. Vijayan said Sister Lisa consumed poison, and investigators reported finding traces of pesticide in Sister Lisa’s room.

மூன்று பாதிரிகளையும் வெளியேற்றிய கிறிஸ்தவ சபை விசாரணையை துவக்கியுள்ளது. பார்போஸாவும் இதர இரண்டு பாதிரிகளும் எங்கு வேலைப்பார்த்தனர் என்பதுக் குறித்து தகவலை கிறிஸ்தவ சபை வெளியிடவில்லை.

லத்தீன் அமெரிக்காவில் கிறிஸ்தவ பாதிரிகளுக்கு எதிராக சமீபத்தில் ஏராளமான குற்றச்சாட்டுகள் எழுந்தன. இந்த மாதம் குற்றச்சாட்டுகளைத் தொடர்ந்து ஒரு பாதிரியார் தப்பி ஓடினார். பொலிவியாவில் இவர் மூன்று சிறுவர்களை பாலியல் வன்புணர்வுச் செய்ததாக ஒரு கன்னியாஸ்திரி புகார் கூறியிருந்தார்.சிலி நாட்டில் வயதுக்கு வராத எட்டு சிறுமிகளை பாலியல் வன்புணர்ச்சிக்கு ஆளாக்கியதாக பாதிரிகள் மீது குற்றச்சாட்டு எழுந்தது. இதில் ஒரு சிறுமி கர்ப்பிணியானார்.

ஒரு ஆர்தோடக்ஸ் கத்தோலிக்க சபையின் ஸ்தாபகரான பாதிரியார் தனக்கு அவர் மூலம் பெற்ற இரண்டு சிறுவர்களில் ஒருவரை பாலியல் பலாத்காரத்திற்கு ஆளாக்கியதாக மெக்சிக்கோவைச் சார்ந்த பெண்மணி கடந்த மார்ச் மாதம் குற்றச்சாட்டை எழுப்பியிருந்தார்.

பல்வேறு நாடுகளில் பாலியல் குற்றச்சாட்டுகளின் காரணமாக பல பாதிரியார்களையும் ட்ரான்ஸ்ஃபர் அல்லது வேறு நாடுகளுக்கு அனுப்பிய 30க்கும் மேற்பட்ட சம்பவங்களை கண்டறிந்ததாக அசோசியேட் பிரஸ் செய்தி வெளியிட்டுள்ளது. இதில் பலரும் இதர நாடுகளிலும் தங்கள் பாலியல் சேவையை தொடர்கிறார்கள்.

பாதிரியார்களின் பாலியல் குற்றம்-போப்பாண்டவரை கைது செய்ய வேண்டுமா ?

ரோமன் கத்தோலிக்க மதத்தலைவரான போப்பாண்டவர் 16ம் பெனடிக்ட், போப்பாண்டவர் பதவியில் இருந்து விலக வேண்டும், அவரை கைது செய்ய வேண்டும் என்ற கூக்குரல்கள் தற்பொழுது உலகெங்கிலும் ஒலித்துக் கொண்டிருக்கிறது. போப்பாண்டவருக்கு ஆதரவான வாதங்களும், எதிர் வாதங்களும் அமெரிக்க ஊடகங்களிலும், ஐரோப்பிய ஊடகங்களிலும் எதிரொலித்துக் கொண்டிருக்கின்றன. தற்போதைய போப்பாண்டவரான பெனடிக்ட் இதற்கு முன்பு கார்டினலாக இருந்த பொழுது பலக் கத்தோலிக்கத் திருச்சபை பாதிரியார்களின் பாலியல் வன்முறைகளை மூடி மறைத்தார் என்றும், அதில் ஈடுபட்ட பல கத்தோலிக்கத் திருச்சபை பாதிரியார்கள் மீது எந்த நடவடிக்கையும் எடுக்க வில்லை என்றும் தற்பொழுது குற்றச்சாட்டு எழுந்துள்ளது.

போப்பாண்டவர் 16ம் பெனடிக்ட்டின் இயற்ப்பெயர் ஜோசப் ராட்சிங்கர். இவர் போப்பாண்டவர் பதவிக்கு வரும் முன்பு கார்டினலாக பணியாற்றி இருக்கிறார். கார்டினலாக இருந்த பொழுது திருச்சபை உறுப்பினர்களின் ஒழுக்க விவகாரங்களுக்கு பொறுப்பான வாடிகன் அதிகாரியாகவும் (Leader of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith) ராட்சிங்கர் பொறுப்பு வகித்தர். இதன் காரணமாக உலகெங்கிலும் நடக்கும் பல்வேறு பாலியல் அத்தீமீறல்கள் குறித்த பிரச்சனைகளை நெறிப்படுத்தும் பொறுப்பும் ராட்சிங்கருக்கு இருந்து வந்துள்ளது. அவ்வாறு இருந்தும் ஒழுக்கம் தவறிய பாதிரியார்கள் மீது எந்த நடவடிக்கையும் எடுக்கப்படவில்லை. அதோடு மட்டுமில்லாமல் பாலியல் குற்றம் சாட்டப்பட்டுள்ள கத்தோலிக்க பாதிரியார்களை மிகவும் ரகசியமாகவே விசாரிக்க வேண்டும் என அனைத்து கத்தோலிக்கத் திருச்சபைகளுக்கும் ராட்சிங்கர் அனுப்பிய ரகசிய உத்தரவும் தற்பொழுது சர்ச்சைக்குள்ளாகி இருக்கிறது. தன்னுடைய திருச்சபைக்கு களங்கம் நேராமல் காப்பாற்றவே வாடிகன் முனைந்ததே தவிர குற்றவாளிகள் தண்டிக்கப்படவோ, பாலியல் அத்துமீறலுக்கு உள்ளானவர்களுக்கு நியாயம் கிடைக்கவோ எந்த நடவடிக்கையும் வாடிகன் எடுக்கவே இல்லை. இதன் காரணமாக குற்றம் செய்த பாதிரியார்கள் எந்த தண்டனையும் இல்லாமல் தொடர்ச்சியாக பல ஆண்டுகள் இத்தகைய குற்றங்களை செய்து வந்திருக்கிறார்கள்.

அதுவும் இத்தகைய பாலியல் வன்முறை யார் மீது தொடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது தெரியுமா ? குழந்தைகளின் மீது. ஆம், பத்து வயது கூட நிரம்பாத சிறுவர்களையும், சிறுமிகளையுமே தங்களுடைய செக்ஸ் வக்கிரத்திற்கு இந்தப் பாதிரியார்கள் பயன்படுத்திக் கொண்டுள்ளனர். Pedophiles எனப்படும் குழந்தைகளை பாலியலுக்கு உட்படுத்தும் பாலியல் வல்லூறுக்கள் தான் இந்தக் கத்தோலிக்க கிறுத்துவ பாதிரியார்கள்.

கத்தோலிக்கத் திருச்சபைகள் உலகெங்கிலும் பல்வேறு அனாதை ஆசிரமங்களையும், குழந்தைகளுக்கான காப்பகங்களையும் நடத்தி வருகிறது. இத்தகைய காப்பகங்களிலும், பள்ளிகளிலும் இருக்கும் சிறார்களின் மீது பாலியல் வன்முறைகள் தொடுக்கப்படுவதாக பலக் குற்றச்சாட்டுகள் பல ஆண்டுகளாக இருந்து வந்திருக்கின்றன. இந்தக் குற்றங்களை போப்பாண்டவர் பதவிக்கு வருவதற்கு முன்பு தற்போதைய போப்பாண்டவர் மூடி மறைத்தார் என்ற குற்றச்சாட்டே தற்பொழுது எழுந்துள்ளது.

வழக்கம் போல போப்பாண்டவரின் பெயருக்கு களங்கம் விளைவிக்கவே இத்தகைய குற்றச்சாட்டுகள் முன்வைக்கப்படுவதாக வாடிகன் கூறியுள்ளது. போப்பாண்டவருக்கு இத்தகையக் குற்றங்கள் நடந்தது தெரியாது என வாடிகன் பிரச்சனையை பூசி மொழுக முனைகிறது. இதை விட வேடிக்கை என்னவென்றால் வாடிகனைச் சேர்ந்த ஒரு உயரதிகாரி போப் மீதான குற்றச்சாட்டினை யூதர்கள் மீதான வெறுப்புடன் (Antisemitism ) ஒப்பிட்டுள்ளதும் சர்ச்சையை எழுப்பி உள்ளது. இதனை பல யூத அமைப்புகள் கண்டித்துள்ளன. பல யூதர்கள் கொல்லப்பட காரணமான யூதர்கள் மீதான வெறுப்பினை (Antisemitism ) தற்போதைய போப் மீதான வெறுப்பாக கட்டமைக்க முனைவது வேடிக்கையானது. வாடிகன் தற்போதையப் பிரச்சனையை எவ்வாறு கையாளுவது என குழம்பிப் போய் உள்ள சூழ்நிலையையே இது வெளிப்படுத்துகிறது.

எப்படி எழுந்தது இந்தக் குற்றச்சாட்டு ?

கத்தோலிக்கத் திருச்சபைகளின் மீதான இந்தக் குற்றச்சாட்டு புதியது அல்ல. பல்வேறு நாடுகளில் இந்தக் குற்றச்சாட்டுகள் தொடர்ச்சியாக கடந்த காலங்களில் எழுப்பப் பட்டிருக்கின்றன. தற்போதையக் குற்றச்சாட்டு கடந்தக் காலங்களில் நடந்தக் குற்றங்களை ஒட்டியே எழுந்திருக்கிறது. குறிப்பாக அயர்லாந்து, அமெரிக்கா, ஜெர்மனி ஆகிய நாடுகளில் கடந்த காலங்களில் நடந்த பாலியல் குற்றங்களே தற்போதைய குற்றச்சாட்டிற்கும் காரணமாக உள்ளது.

அயர்லாந்தில் நூற்றுக்கணக்கான பாதிரியார்கள் பல்லாயிரம் குழந்தைகளை பல ஆண்டுகளாக பாலியல் பலாத்காரம் செய்துள்ளதாக பல்வேறு விசாரணைகளின் மூலம் கண்டறியப்பட்டுள்ளது. அது போல அமெரிக்காவிலும் பல்வேறு குற்றாச்சாட்டுகள் கத்தோலிக்க திருச்சபைகள் மீது வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன. ஆனால் பிரச்சனை என்னவென்றால் இத்தகைய எந்தப் பாதிரியார்களும் தண்டிக்கப்படவே இல்லை.

ஏன் தண்டனை இல்லை ? கத்தோலிக்க வாடிகன் தலைமைக்கு இந்தக் குற்றங்கள் தெரியாதா ?

கத்தோலிக்கத் தலைமைக்கு இந்தக் குற்றங்கள் தெரியும். ஏனெனில் திருச்சபைகளில் நடக்கும் ஒவ்வொரு பாலியல் குற்றங்களும் வாடிகனுக்கு தெரியப்படுத்தப் பட வேண்டும் என்ற நெறிமுறை உள்ளது. ஆனால் இந்தக் குற்றங்கள் கத்தோலிக்க திருச்சபைக்கு களங்கத்தை ஏற்படுத்தும் என வாடிகன் அஞ்சியது. இதனால் இந்தக் குற்றங்களை மூடி மறைக்க கத்தோலிக்கத் திருச்சபை முனைந்தது. இத்தகையக் குற்றங்களை மூடி மறைக்க தனி நெறிமுறைகளையே வாடிகன் வகுத்துள்ளது.

1962ல் வாடிகன் ஒரு ரகசிய ஆணையை பிறப்பித்து உள்ளது. இதன் பெயர் Crimen Sollicitationis. இதன் படி கத்தோலிக்க பேராயர்கள் பாலியல் குற்றச்சாட்டுக்கள் எழும் பொழுது அந்தக் குற்றங்களை ரகசியமாக வைத்திருக்க வேண்டும் என அறிவுறுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளனர். இந்தக் குற்றங்கள் குறித்து வெளியில் எதுவும் பேசக் கூடாது என்பதும் ரகசிய உத்தரவாகும். பாலியல் குற்றம் செய்தவர், பாலியல் அத்துமீறலுக்கு உள்ளானவர்கள், குற்றத்தைக் கண்ட சாட்சிகள் என அனைவரும் இந்தச் சட்டத்தின் படி பாலியல் குற்றம் குறித்த ரகசியத்தை கட்டாயமாக கடைப்பிடிக்க வேண்டும். அவ்வாறு ரகசியத்தை கடைப்பிடிக்காவிட்டால் கத்தோலிக்கத் திருச்சபையில் இருந்து நீக்கப்படுவார்கள் (excommunication). திருச்சபையில் இருந்து நீக்கப்படுவது என்பது சில இடங்களில் கிராமத்தை விட்டு ஒதுக்கி வைப்பது போன்றது தான். இது குறித்த ஒருபிபிசி ஆவணப்படத்தில் தனது ஐந்து வயது பேரனுக்கு நடந்த பாலியல் வன்முறையை வெளிப்படுத்தியமைக்காக தான் எவ்வாறு திருச்சபையில் இருந்தும், கிராமத்தில் இருந்தும் ஒதுக்கப் பட்டேன் என ஒரு மூதாட்டி விளக்குகிறார்.

பாலியல் அத்துமீறலால் பாதிக்கப்பட்ட சிறார்கள் இந்தக் குற்றத்தைக் குறித்து வெளியில் பேசக்கூடாது என வரையறுத்த கத்தோலிக்கத் திருச்சபை, குற்றம் செய்த பாதிரியார்களுக்கு எந்த தண்டனையும் வழங்கவில்லை. Pedophile என்பது ஒரு கிரிமினல் குற்றமாகும். இந்தக் குற்றம் குறித்து வெளியே கூறக்கூடாது என்ற ரகசிய உத்தரவு இருந்ததால் இது போலீசாருக்கோ, உள்ளூர் அரசாங்கத்திற்கோ தெரியப்படுத்தப்படவே இல்லை. கத்தோலிக்கத் திருச்சபையின் இத்தகைய நெறிமுறை குற்றம் செய்தவர்களுக்கே சாதகமாக இருந்தது. காரணம் இத்தகைய குற்றம் செய்த பாதிரியார்கள் வேறு இடங்களுக்கு இடமாற்றம் மட்டுமே செய்யப்பட்டனர். இதன் காரணமாக ஒரு இடத்தில் குற்றம் செய்த பாதிரியார்கள், வேறு இடங்களிலும் தொடர்ச்சியாக குற்றம் இழைத்துக் கொண்டிருந்தனர். இவ்வாறு பல ஆண்டுகளாக ஆயிரக்கணக்கான குழந்தைகளை பல நூற்றுக்கணக்கான பாதிரியார்கள் பாலியல் பலாத்காரம் செய்துள்ளனர். ஆனால் பாதிக்கப்பட்டவர்கள் இந்தப் பிரச்சனைக் குறித்து வெளியே கூறக்கூடாது என மிரட்டப்பட்டனர். பலர் பல ஆண்டுகள் இதனை வெளியே கூறவே இல்லை. பல ஆண்டுகளுக்குப் பிறகு தற்பொழுது தான் பலர் தங்கள் மீது சிறு வயதில் இழைக்கப்பட்ட அநீதிகள் குறித்து கூறத் தொடங்கியுள்ளனர். இதில் எரிச்சல் ஊட்டும் வேதனையான உண்மை என்னவென்றால் கத்தோலிக்கத் திருச்சபை இத்தகைய பாலியல் குற்றங்களை ஒரு பாவமாகவும், பாவத்திற்கு மன்னிப்பாக பாவமன்னிப்பையும் பாதிக்கப்பட்டவர்களுக்கு வலியுறுத்தி வந்துள்ளது. இதனால் குற்றம் செய்த குற்றாவளிகளான பாதிரியார்கள் எந்தப் பிரச்சனையும் இல்லாமல் பல சிறார்களை தொடர்ந்து தங்கள் காமவெறிக்கு பயன்படுத்தி வந்துள்ளனர்.

பாலியல் குற்றம் தொடர்பாக அமெரிக்காவில் தேடப்படும் சில பாதிரியார்கள் அமெரிக்காவை விட்டு தப்பி வாடிகனில் அல்லது ரோமில் சுதந்திரமாக திரிவதாக கூட ஒரு தொலைக்காட்சியில் கூறப்பட்டது. ஆனால் இது எந்தளவுக்கு உண்மை என்பது தெரியவில்லை.

இந்தக் குற்றங்களை கடந்த காலங்களில் பல ஊடகங்கள் வெளியிட்டு இருந்தாலும் வாடிகனின் போக்கில் பெரிய மாற்றம் எதுவும் இல்லை. 2006ல் பிபிசி இந்தக் குற்றங்களைச் சார்ந்து ஒரு ஆவணப் படத்தை வெளியிட்டு உள்ளது. அந்த ஆவணப் படத்தில் ஒரு பாதிரியார் செய்த குற்றங்கள் குறித்து விவரிக்கப்படுகிறது. குற்றம் செய்த பாதியாரின் பெயர் டார்டிசியோ. முதன் முதலில் 1991ம் ஆண்டு இவர் செய்த பாலியியல் குற்றம் பிரேசிலில் வெளியாகி உள்ளது. ஆனால் இவர் மீது எந்த நடவடிக்கையையும் வாடிகன் எடுக்க வில்லை. மாறாக அவரை வாடிகன் இடமாற்றம் மட்டுமே செய்துள்ளது. இவர் இடம்மாறிய இடங்களில் எல்லாம் இத்தகைய குற்றங்களை தொடர்ச்சியாக செய்துள்ளார். இவர் குற்றம் செய்வதும், இடமாற்றம் செய்யப்படுவதுமாக நிலைமை இருந்துள்ளது. இவ்வாறு சுமார் நான்கு முறை இவர் இடமாற்றம் செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளார். இறுதியாக 2005ல் இவர் போலீசாரால் பிடிபட்ட பொழுது தான் இவர் பற்றிய விபரங்கள் வெளியுலகுக்கு தெரிய வந்தது. இந்தப் பாதிரியார் எழுதியுள்ள டைரியில் எழு வயது முதல் பத்து வயதிற்குட்பட்ட ஏழை மற்றும் பெற்றோர் இல்லாத அனாதைக் குழந்தைகளையே இவர் தன் பாலியில் இச்சைக்கு பயன்படுத்திக் கொண்டதாக கூறியுள்ளார்.

பாதிரியார்கள் செய்த குற்றத்திற்கு போப்பாண்டவர் பெனடிக்ட் பொறுப்பாக முடியுமா ?

தற்போதைய போப்பாண்டவர், இந்தப் பதவிக்கு வரும் முன்பு திருச்சபை உறுப்பினர்களின் ஒழுக்க விவகாரங்களுக்கு பொறுப்பான வாடிகன் அதிகாரியாக பொறுப்பு வகித்தவர். இதன் காரணமாக உலகெங்கிலும் நடக்கும் பல்வேறு பாலியல் அத்துமீறல்கள் குறித்தப் பிரச்சனைகளை நெறிப்படுத்தும் பொறுப்பும் ராட்சிங்கருக்கு இருந்து வந்துள்ளது.

இவ்வளவு பெரிய பொறுப்பில் இருந்தும், குழந்தைகளை பாலியல் அத்துமீறலுக்கு உள்ளாக்கிய பாதிரியார்களை நெறிப்படுத்தும், ஒழுங்குப்படுத்தும், தண்டிக்கும் எந்த நடவடிக்கையையும் ராட்சிங்கர் எடுக்கவில்லை. மாறாக 2001ல் ராட்சிங்கர் ஒரு ரகசிய உத்தரவை பிறப்பித்து உள்ளார். அதன் படி பாதிரியார்கள் திருச்சபைகளில் செய்யும் குழந்தைகள் மீதான பாலியல் குற்றங்கள் உள்ளிட்ட எல்லா செக்ஸ் குற்றங்களையும் மிகவும் ரகசியமாக பாதுகாக்க வேண்டும் என்ற உத்தரவை மறுபடியும் வலியுறுத்தியுள்ளார். அதாவது 1962ல் இருந்த உத்தரவை மிகவும் தீவிரமாக அமல்படுத்த வேண்டும் என்பதே அவரது ரகசிய உத்தரவு. இவ்வாறு சுமார் 20 ஆண்டுகளுக்கும் மேலாக கிரிமென் (Crimen) எனப்படும் ரகசியத்தை பாதுகாக்கும் நடவடிக்கைகளை வலியுறுத்திய ராட்சிங்கர் இத்தகைய குற்றங்களை தடுக்கவோ, பாதிக்கப்பட்டவர்களுக்கு நியாயம் கிடைக்கவோ எந்த நடவடிக்கையும் எடுக்க வில்லை.

அது மட்டுமில்லாமல் பாலியல் குற்றம் தொடர்பான ஒவ்வொரு குற்றத்தையும் வாடிகனுக்கு அனுப்ப வேண்டும் என்பதும், அவை வாடிகனின் நேரடிப் பார்வைக்கு வர வேண்டும் என்பதும் அவரது ஆணை. ஆனால் வாடிகனுக்கு அனுப்பப்பட்ட எந்தக் குற்றத்தின் மீதும் எவ்வித நடவடிக்கையும் எடுக்கப்படவில்லை. எனவே போப்பாண்டவர் பெனடிக்ட் தான் கத்தோலிக்கத் திருச்சபைகளில் நடந்த எல்லா குற்றங்களுக்கும் முழு பெறுப்பேற்க வேண்டியவராகிறார்.

போப்பாண்டவர் பெனடிக்ட் மீது இத்தகைய குற்றச்சாட்டு பல ஆண்டுகளாக இருந்து வந்தாலும் அமெரிக்காவின் விஸ்கான்சின் மாநிலத்தில் நடைபெற்ற ஒரு பாலியல் அத்துமீறலில் போப்பாண்டவர் எந்த நடவடிக்கையும் எடுக்க வில்லை என்பதற்கான ஆதாரங்களைக் கடந்த மாதம் நியூயார்க் டைம்ஸ் நாளிதழ் வெளியிட்டதை தொடர்ந்தே போப்பாண்டவர் குறித்த பல்வேறு குற்றச்சாட்டுகள் வெளிவரத் தொடங்கி உள்ளன. கார்டினலாக பணியாற்றுவதற்கு முன்பு ஜெர்மனியில் பேராயராக பணியாற்றிய பொழுதும் ராட்சிங்கர் பாலியல் குற்றங்களை மூடிமறைத்துள்ளது தெரியவந்துள்ளது. இதையெடுத்தே தற்போதைய போப்பாண்டவர் பதவி விலக வேண்டும் என்ற கோரிக்கைகள் வலுப்பெற்றுள்ளன.

அமெரிக்காவின் விஸ்கான்ஸின் பகுதியில் ஒரு பள்ளிக்கூடத்தில் இருந்த சிறார்களை திட்டமிட்டு தொடர்ச்சியாக பாலியல்
துஷ்பிரயோகங்களுக்கு பாதிரியார் லாரன்ஸ் மர்ஃபி உட்படுத்திவந்திருந்தார். இந்த துஷ்பிரயோகம் குறித்து லாரன்ஸ் மர்ஃபிக்கு மேலேயிருந்த திருச்சபை அதிகாரிகள் 1990களின் மையப் பகுதியில் அப்போது திருச்சபை உறுப்பினர்களின் ஒழுக்க விவகாரங்களுக்கு பொறுப்பான வத்திகான் அதிகாரியாக இருந்த கார்டினல் ராட்ஸிங்கருக்கு இரண்டு முறை கடிதம் எழுதியதாக தெரிவிக்கப்படுகிறது.

போப்பாண்டவர் மீதான குற்றச்சாட்டு

பிற்பாடு போப்பாண்டவராக உருவெடுத்தவரான கார்டினல் ராட்ஸிங்கர் அக்கடிதங்களுக்கு பதில் எழுதியிருக்கவில்லை. பாதிரியார் லாரன்ஸ் மர்ஃபி தனது கடமைகளிலிருந்து விடுவிக்கப்பட்டிருந்தாலும் அவர் திருச்சபையிலிருந்து வெளியேற்றப்பட்டிருக்கவில்லை. போப்பாண்டவர் பெனடிக் உரிய
நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கத் தவறிவிட்டார் என்று விமர்சகர்களும், துஷ்பிரயோகத்துக்கு உள்ளாகியிருந்தவர்கள் பலரும் கூறுகின்றனர். திருச்சபைக்கு அவப்பெயர் வந்துவிடக்கூடாது என்ற நோக்கத்தில் இந்த விஷயத்தை மூடி மறைக்க நடந்த முயற்சிகளில்
போப்பாண்டவருக்கும் பங்கிருந்தது என்று கூட அவர்கள் குற்றம்சாட்டியுள்ளனர்.

பிபிசியில் விடுபட்டுப் போன ஒரு தகவல் - பாதிரியார் லாரன்ஸ் மர்ஃபி நேரடியாக ராட்சிங்கருக்கே ஒரு கடிதம் எழுதியுள்ளார். அதில் தனது உடல்நிலையை கருத்தில் கொண்டு தன் மீது எந்த நடவடிக்கையும் எடுக்கக் கூடாது என்பதே சுமார் 200 காது கேளாத குழந்தைகளை பாலியல் பலாத்காரம் செய்த பாதிரியார் லாரன்ஸ் மர்ஃபியின் வேண்டுகோள். அதற்கு ராட்சிங்கர் என்ன விடை அளித்தார் என்பது தெரியவில்லை. ஆனால் சுமார் 200க்கும் மேற்பட்ட குழந்தைகளை பலாத்காரம் செய்த லாரன்ஸ் மர்ஃபிக்கு எந்த தண்டனையும் வழங்கப்படவில்லை. இறுதி காலம் வரை பாதிரியாராக இருந்து லாரன்ஸ் மர்ஃபி 1998ல் இறந்திருக்கிறார். இந்தத் தகவல்களை நியூயார்க் டைம்ஸ் வெளியிட்டு உள்ளது.

அமெரிக்காவில் வெளியான குற்றச்சாட்டினை தொடர்ந்து ஜெர்மனியிலும் ராட்சிங்கர் பாலியல் குற்றங்களை மூடி மறைத்தார் என்ற குற்றச்சாட்டும் தற்பொழுது வெளியாகி உள்ளது. பாதிரியார் ஹல்லர்மேன் ஜெர்மனியைச் சேர்ந்தப் பாதிரியார் ஆவார். இந்தப் பாதிரியார் பாலியல் குற்றம் செய்ததான ஒரு பிரச்சனை 1980ல் எழுந்தது. அப்பொழுது அங்கு பேராயராக இருந்தவர் ஜோசப் ராட்சிங்கர். ஒரு 11 வயது சிறுவனை பாலியல் பலாத்காரம் செய்திருக்கிறார் பாதிரியார் ஹல்லர்மேன். பேராயராக இருந்த ஜோசப் ராட்சிங்கர் இந்தப் பாதிரியாரை முனிச் நகரத்திற்கு இடமாற்றம் செய்திருக்கிறார். ஆனால் பாலியல் குற்றம் குறித்து போலீசாருக்கோ, அரசாங்கத்திற்கோ எந்தத் தகவலும் தெரிவிக்கப்படவில்லை. இடமாற்றம் செய்யப்பட்ட பாதிரியார் இடம் மாறிய இடத்திலும் தொடர்ந்து பாலியல் வன்முறை செய்துள்ளார். இவ்வாறு இவரது பாலியல் குற்றங்கள் தொடர்ந்து நடைபெற்றாலும் இவர் மீது கத்தோலிக்கத் திருச்சபை எந்த நடவடிக்கையும் எடுக்க வில்லை என்பது மட்டுமல்ல, இவர் தொடர்ந்து குழந்தைகளுடன் பணியாற்றவும் அனுமதித்து இருக்கிறது. இறுதியாக 1986ல் இவர் போலீசாரால் கைது செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளார். இவ்வளவு நடந்தும் அவர் பாதிரியார் பொறுப்பில் இருந்து விலக்கப்படவில்லை, கடந்த மாதம் இந்தக் குற்றச்சாட்டுகள் வெளியான பிறகே பாதிரியார் பொறுப்பில் இருந்து ஹல்லர்மேன் நீக்கப்பட்டார்.

இவையெல்லாம் போப்பாண்டவர் எத்தகைய பொறுப்புடன் இந்தப் பிரச்சனையை அணுகியிருக்கிறார் என்பதையே வெளிப்படுத்துகிறது.

ஆனால் இவையெல்லாம் நடைமுறைச் சாத்தியம் அற்றது. என்றாலும், கைது செய்யப்பட வேண்டும் என்ற கோரிக்கை நடைமுறையில் சாத்தியமானதா என்பதைக் கடந்து தார்மீக நோக்கிலே சரியான கோரிக்கையாகவே உள்ளது. எனவே போப்பாண்டவரை கைது செய்ய வேண்டும் என்ற கோரிக்கையை நாம் தொடர்ந்து எழுப்பியாக வேண்டிய சூழ்நிலையே தற்பொழுது உள்ளது.

CBI delays action, UK man accused of child abuse set free

CHENNAI: Patrick Matthews, the 63-year-old Englishman who was arrested in 2007 in the UK for allegedly sexually abusing several boys of a residential school in Chennai, has walked free, thanks to Indian bureaucracy’s delay.

A UK court on Wednesday let off Matthews, since India’s ministry of external affairs and the CBI, the Indian wing of Interpol, slept on a request from the Child Abuse Investigation Team of Gloucestershire Constabulary to allow a video deposition of the victims in India.

The case was dismissed citing a UK law that gives only ‘reasonable’ time to investigators to collect evidence while considering a person as an accused. Matthews was accused of abusing at least four boys in the age group of 10 to 14 years between 2003 and 2006 when he worked as a volunteer teacher at St George Anglo-Indian Higher Secondary School.

The UK Crown Prosecution had sent an ‘international letter of request’ dated April 28 seeking permission to make the victims in Chennai depose before the Bristol crown court through video-conferencing. “The letter went back and forth between departments and we didn’t get a response from India,” Nigel Hatten, detective sergeant of Gloucestershire Constabulary, told TOI over phone. Matthews had joined St George School in 2003 through Batemans Trust, a UK-based NGO.

Patrick Matthews, a 62-year-old UK national accused of sexually abusing several boys of St George Anglo-Indian Higher Secondary School in Chennai between 2003 and 2006, has been arrested in UK.

A four-member team of Gloucestershire Constabulary was in Chennai for two weeks in June interviewing children and staff of the school, besides collecting evidence from a beachside retreat in Kovalam, near Chennai, where Matthews allegedly took the boys to.

After interviewing 14 children and 16 adults, the team concluded that Matthews, who worked as a volunteer in the school, had sexually abused at least nine students.

The UK-based Batemans Trust, through which Mathews had come to the school as a volunteer, had filed a complaint alleging that he sexually abused students at the school.

Matthews, who was arrested in the UK last year following a tip-off from Batemans Trust in 2007, was let out on bail since there was no evidence to link him with the alleged incidents.

The Crown Prosecution of the UK, through the Interpol had sent a letter rogatory on 28 November 2007 requesting permission for Gloucestershire Constabulary detectives to visit India to interview the victims and collect evidence.

It looked like Matthews would walk free when the Indian authorities delayed permission even after a reminder from the UK authoritises on 14 January 2008.

A couple of months later, the UK team got the nod and sent the four-member team in mid-June to Chennai under the Sexual Offences Act, 2003. The Act gives special powers to the state to prosecute its national who commits a sexual offence even outside the country.

During a preliminary inquiry conducted by the local police, some of the victims had said that Matthews, who doubled up as a tuition assistant and a cricket coach, used to take them to his room and sexually abuse them.

A report sent by CBI, the Indian arm of Interpol, to the UK authorities on 3 April 2007 said Matthews had repeatedly “misbehaved” with at least four boys of the boarding school. When contacted, the school authorities said they asked Matthews to leave the premises as soon as the first complaint came in.

KERALA Murder Suspect Jacobite Pastor Surrenders

A Jacobite Syrian priest, prime suspect in the murder of a Christian lay leader, has given himself up to a court in Kochi, India.

Father Varghese Thekkekara of the Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church surrendered after a demand from the Kerala High Court. He was granted bail of 25,000 rupees (US $542) on his own recognizance and two sureties of the same amount.

Father Thekkekara was charged with conspiring to hire henchmen to murder Malankara Varghese, a management committee member from the rival Malankara Orthodox Church. Police have also accused 19 others, including criminal gang members, of the 2002 murder. The Jacobite Church suspended the priest upon his accusation.

It is thought that the murder was part of a long-running feud within the Syrian Malankara Church, which split into Jacobite and Orthodox factions
after a dispute over property and money, more than a century ago.

The Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church recognizes the Patriarch of Antioch as its spiritual head while the Malankara Orthodox Church reveres a local prelate as its leader.

The two factions jointly own 1,026 churches across Kerala, their base. Since the split, each faction has tried repeatedly to gain control over the other’s domain.

Saramma Varghese, the victim’s widow, said she would not stop her fight for justice. I believe there is a wider conspiracy behind the murder,” she said. “I believe more church leaders are involved, including bishops.”

Statewide child trafficking ring busted, 4 held

CHENNAI: In a new twist to a child kidnapping racket busted recently, the Chennai suburban police on Saturday night arrested four women, who were part of the trafficking network and worked for a city-based fertility clinic, indicating the statewide ramifications of the case.

The women, including two ‘ayahs’ working in the hospital, are said to have identified buyers among patients who came to the clinic for treatment. While Nancy and Asha looked after the stolen babies, Kavitha, 33, and Andal, 47, identified a potential buyer for one of the babies.

The development adds another dimension to the child trafficking network, the second big one in recent times to be unearthed by the state police. In 2005, police had cracked an adoption racket involving an agency that sourced kidnapped babies and gave them away in adoption to couples abroad. CBI is still investigating the case. Police suspect that the latest case, involving a gang operating across TN, may have links to networks in other states as well.

Police confirmed that Saturday’s arrests were part of the child abduction racket that came to light when Krishnagiri police arrested seven members of a gang, most of them operating in Chennai and its suburbs. Deputy commissioner of police (Madhavaram), Annie Vijaya, told TOI, “The arrests are a continuation of the child trafficking racked busted in Krishnagiri (in May). We have been exchanging information with the Krishnagiri police and following up leads.”

It was in May that police first arrested several members of a gang and rescued nine babies from them. During interrogation of an accused, Dhanalakshmi, police found that several woman, posing as social workers, and a church priest, father Alphonse, believed to be the kingpin in the racket, were involved in an inter-state racket of stealing and selling babies to childless couples for price ranging from Rs 50,000 to a couple of lakhs of rupees. Those arrested included a woman, M Lalitha, a self-proclaimed social worker, running an orphanage in Puducherry. The woman used the unlicensed orphanage she ran to source babies and sell them to childless couples.

The alleged brain behind the four women arrested on Saturday, Jayaprasad, was picked up in Krishnagiri. Police also rescued two babies from the gang — an eight-month-old girl and a one-year-old baby boy. The children have been handed over to authorities of a government home.

KodaikanalHead Master Molesting Children for 25 years caught

CHENNAI: The 73-year-old correspondent of the reputed Kodaikanal Public School, M L Brite, is on the run, charged with the molestation of a Class IX student, who joined the residential school just over a month ago.

The 14-year-old, a citizen of Bhutan, was sexually molested by the 73-year-old correspondent, says the complaint filed with the Kodaikanal police by the student’s guardian.

Brite asked the girl to visit his room in her nightgown late in the night along with another girl on June 1. The other girl ignored the call but the new girl went ahead.

She was asked to serve coffee to Brite, who then allegedly misbehaved with her. When the girl refused to give in to his demands, Brite threatened her, using abusive language.

The frightened girl fell ill and she was admitted to hospital. The correspondent went to the hospital and when no one was around allegedly molested her. The girl called her guardian, who came and filed a police complaint on June 18.

The officer in charge of Kodaikanal Police Station told Express that preliminary investigations said that the educationist, running the school in the hill station for 27 years, had a history of harassing women, particularly teachers, for several decades, and at the Mother Teresa University, where he was a visiting lecturer. This was the first time a formal complaint had being lodged against him, the officer said.

இது குறித்து மேலும் சிலரிடம் விசாரித்தபோது, ""இவர் மீது பல மன்மத புகார்கள் -குறிப்பா கல்லூரி நடத்தும் ஒரு இஸ்லாமியத் தொழிலதிபரின் குடும்பத்தில் இருக்கும் பெண்களிடம் இவர் நடந்துகொண்ட முறை யால் அவர்கள் தந்த புகார்தான் 2008-ல் போலீஸுக்கு வந்தது. பெரிய குடும்ப விவகாரம் என்பதால் இதை சீரியஸா எடுத்துக்கிட்டு விசாரிச்சாங்க. ஆனா மதத்தின் பெயருக்கு இழுக்குன்னுதான் அவரைப் பத்தி மழுப்பலான பதில்களைச் சொல்லியும் அவர் நல்லவர்னு எழுதிக் கொடுத்தும் சிலர் அவரைக் காப்பாத்தினாங்க” என்றார்கள் ஆணித்தரமாய்.

A regional police chief told the BBC that plants covering one acre had been found and uprooted in the southern Masaka district. Two nuns and two porters have been questioned. One of the nuns has been quoted by local media as saying the marijuana was used to treat farm animals, such as pigs. Southern regional commander Emmanuel Muhuirwe told the BBC News website that only the porters had been arrested – not the nuns. He said the nuns had been questioned because the garden was part of the convent.

But he said no-one had been charged yet and the porters have been released on bail. Commander Muhuirwe also dismissed reports in Uganda’s New Vision newspaper that the nuns had been angry that the police had entered the convent without permission, pointing out that the garden was separate from the convent building.

Father John Joseph's A priest’s arrest exposes a trail of murder and sexual abuse.

The Yesu of Marthandam, it seems, has run out of miracles. Not long ago, frenzied sessions saw his ‘devotees’ — over 5,000 of them, mainly Roman catholic women from the local fishing community near Kanyakumari — spellbound as he sang in praise of the Lord. Many would go into hysteria, sob uncontrollably, faint and, at the end of it all, even claim that they had been cured of the most serious of illnesses. Today, but for a lone fox and some pea****s and doves, Father John Joseph’s sprawling Charismatic Centre, 50 km north of Kanyakumari, wears a deserted look.

Two weeks ago, the Tamil Nadu Police arrested the 52-year-old Father and four of his aides, including two women, on charges of murder, rape and kidnapping. If the arrest wasn’t totally unexpected, it was because once before in July, he, along with the centre’s chief administrator Joseph Alphons and two others, was arrested for non-repayment of loans amounting to Rs 80 lakh taken in 1994. Then, they had all managed to secure bail after furnishing statements, promising to clear the dues. This time, however, the Father wasn’t so lucky.

His recent arrest follows a complaint by Fransiscal Jaya, Alphons’ wife and a former inmate of the ashram. She alleged that in November last year, the priest had attempted to rape her 14-year-old daughter Diana, a class ix student of the centre’s prestigiousMaranatha Residential School in the same complex. She also alleged that the death of Gilbert Raj, 18, an inmate of the centre, in 1994, was due to “sexual persecution“. Following the charges, the police exhumed Raj’s body from the campus cemetery.

Enraged villagers tried to set fire to the centre. They had already submitted around 30 petitions to the police regarding the non-payment of loans and pasted posters all over the town denouncing the Father, who was expelled from the local diocese for anti-religious activities in 1995. The police say that the Father and his aides were involved in large-scale financial swindling. Says Vincent of Imperial Bankers, a money-lending institution at Nagercoil: “Not a paisa of the Rs 15 lakh loan we had advanced has been repaid.”

But reports of bizarre happenings had started trickling out of the centre even before that. About how Joseph would ask young boys to have sex with women inmates much older than them. And how they would be beaten up if they refused. Two such young men, Rajesh and Darwin, lodged a complaint with the police alleging sexual torture. “Swamiyar (Joseph) used to force me to have sex with women who were thrice my age while he watched,” alleges Rajesh, 18, who worked for the centre for three years till 1995. “Unable to take any more, I ran away.” Police suspect that Raj died of similar torture and claim to have proof of the sexual orgies at the centre. They are on the lookout for a lady doctor who is believed to have conducted several abortions on the campus. Says Shylesh Kumar Yadav, joint sp, Thuckalay, who is in charge of the investigations: “We have sufficient evidence to prove all the charges, including murder, rape and attempt to rape, to have Father Joseph convicted.”

Despite persistent rumours of strange goings-on at the centre, nobody considered filing a complaint against the Father earlier, as they were taken in by his charisma. Alphons claims that his wife’s complaint about the rape attempt on their daughter was made only recently because she came to know about it in July. “I was so attracted by Father Joseph’s magnetic personality that I would never believe such things,” he says. As for the case of non-payment of loans — in which Alphons has now been made an approver — he says: “My repeated requests for repayment of loans were ignored by him and I was left to face the creditors.”

The centre’s assets, according to the police, are worth around Rs 4 crore. Though all activities at the centre have come to a halt, theMaranatha Residential School, one of the more expensive in the area where the students pay fees of about Rs 900 per month, is still functioning. But since the Father’s arrest several students have left.

With so much at stake, counter-charges are flying thick and fast. “It is Alphons who has siphoned off the money and to escape trouble has made his wife issue a trumped-up complaint,” says the Father’s sister Angela, whose husband, a managing trustee of the centre, is among those arrested. And despite the mounting pile of evidence against the Father, she believes the “Lord will prove his innocence”. Evidently, she still believes in miracles.

Kerala evangelist booked for abusing boys in orphanage

The Kerala police has registered a case against an evangelist who runs an orphanage for boys in Kumbalangi in Ernakulam district for sexually abusing minor inmates.Antony,who runs the institution by name Kripalayam,had allegedly committed unnatural offence on several inmates aged between 3 and 15 years,sources said.

The incident came to light after he fell out with another evangelist who was a partner in the running of the orphanage.Police have registered a case for unnatural offence and also under the Juvenile Justice Act.

Antony also allegedly duped several foreigners of crores of rupees.First he came into contact with an Italian lady by name Nadia who gave him the money to buy 50 cents of land.Subsequently,he met an Irish woman Mary Markomark who contributed about Rs 2 crores for constructing the building. Through them he came into contact with many more foreigners,all of whom gave him money towards charitable purposes, advocate Anila Kumar G,an advocated associated with the matter said.

There were about 25 children in the home in 2006 when the alleged offence was committed, Assistant Commissioner of Police Shamsu Illickal said.Two of the boys in their statements said the priest used to abuse them in the orphanage and also indulge in physical relations with an elderly lady servant of the home and drink in their presence.The accused used to show them porn films also threatened them into silence. Coming to know of the charges,the Irish woman came to Kerala in February and inquired on her own.Finding substance in the allegations and decided to take Antony to task.She then approached the Kochi police with a complaint.

குலசேகரம் பகுதியை சேர்ந்த ராஜ்ஜோஸ் (56). மதபோதகரான இவர் தென்தாமரைகுளம் பகுதியில் கடந்த 2 ஆண்டுகளாக குழந்தைகள் காப்பகம் நடத்தி வருகிறார். இந்த காப்பகத்தில் 6 குழந்தைகள் தங்கி அருகில் உள்ள பள்ளிகளில் படித்து வருகின்றனர். நாகர்கோவில் வெட்டூர்ணிமடம் பரமார்த்தலிங்கபுரத்தை சேர்ந்த ஒருவரின் 9 வயது மகள் இந்த காப்பகத்தில் தங்கி அருகில் உள்ள பள்ளியில் 4ம் வகுப்பு படித்து வருகிறார்.

கடந்த 20ம் தேதி காப்பகத்தில் யாரும் இல்லாத நேரத்தில் உள்ளே சென்ற ராஜ்ஜோஸ் அந்த சிறுமியிடம் பாலியல் தொல்லை கொடுத்து தவறாக நடக்க முயன்றுள்ளார். கடந்த 23ம் தேதி விடுமுறை நாள் என்பதால் சிறுமி அவரது வீட்டிற்கு சென்றுள்ளார். அப்போது தனது தாயிடம் ராஜ்ஜோஸ் நடந்து கொண்டது குறித்து தெரிவித்துள்ளார். இதையடுத்து சிறுமியின் தாய் ஜீவராணி தென்தாமரைகுளம் போலீசில் புகார் செய்தார். புகாரின்படி சப் இன்ஸ்பெக்டர் ராஜப்பன் வழக்கு பதிவு செய்தார். இன்ஸ்பெக்டர் பால்துரை விசாரணை நடந்தி மதபோதகர் ராஜ்ஜோசை கைது செய்தார்.

கோவை: கோவையிலுள்ள செயின்ட் செபாஸ்டின் சர்ச் பாதிரியார் மோசடியில் ஈடுபட்டாரா என்பது குறித்து விசாரிக்க, கோவை போலீசாருக்கு சென்னை ஐகோர்ட் உத்தரவிட்டுள்ளது. கோவை, பீளமேடு விமான நிலைம் அருகேசெயின்ட் செபாஸ்டின் சர்ச் உள்ளது. கோவை ரோமன் கத்தோலிக்க மறைமாவட்டத்தின் கட்டுப்பாட்டில் உள்ள இந்த சர்ச்சின் பாதிரியாராக (பங்குத்தந்தை) ஜான் போஸ்கோ உள்ளார். சர்ச் உறுப்பினர்களில் ஜெரால்டு பூபாலன், சாலமன், ஜேசுராஜ், குணசேகரன், ஜெயப்பிரகாஷ் ஆகியோர், பாதிரியார் ஜான்போஸ்கோ,சர்ச்சிற்கு வரவேண்டிய வருவாயில் மோசடி செய்து சொத்து சேர்த்ததாக, கோவை சி.பி.சி.ஐ.டி., போலீசில், கடந்த ஏப்ரல் 20ம் தேதி புகார் கொடுத்தனர். கோவை சி.பி.சி.ஐ.டி., போலீசார் புகாரை ஏற்காததால், சென்னை ஐகோர்ட்டில் வழக்கு தொடர்ந்தனர்.

புகாரில் கூறியிருப்பதாவது: பாதிரியார் ஜான்பாஸ்கோ, சர்ச் உறுப்பினர்களிடம் இருந்து பெறும் தொகை குறித்து வரவு -செலவு கணக்கு பார்க்கவில்லை. கோவை பிஷப் அலுவலகத்திற்கு வரவு -செலவு கணக்குகளை முறையாக சமர்ப்பிக்கவில்லை. பல கோடி ரூபாய் மோசடி செய்துள்ளார். மறைமாவட்ட விதிமுறைகளை மீறி அவரது பெயரில் ஏராளமான சொத்துகளை வாங்கியுள்ளார். கோவைப்புதூரிலுள்ள ‘கிங்’ காம்ப்ளக்சில் மாணவர்கள் தங்கும் விடுதியை 1.5 கோடி ரூபாயில் கட்டி வருவாய் ஈட்டி வருகிறார். பாதிரியார் பல லட்சம் ரூபாய் மதிப்புள்ள உயர் ரக கார்களை வாங்கி பயன்படுத்தி வருகிறார். பல வங்கிகளில் இவர் பெயரிலேயே கணக்கு வைத்துள்ளார். இது தவிர இவரது பெயரில் சென்னையிலுள்ள வி.ஜி.பி., நிறுவனத்தில் பல லட்சங்களை டிபாசிட் செய்துள்ளார்.

சர்ச்சிலுள்ள பாதிரியார் அறையில் இரவு நேரத்தில் மது அருந்துதல், பெண்களோடு உல்லாசமாக இருப்பது போன்ற நடவடிக்கைகளில் ஈடுபட்டு சர்ச்சின் புனிதத்தை கெடுத்து வருகிறார்.

அனாதையாக உள்ள குழந்தைகளுக்கு ஆசிரமம் கட்டுகிறேன் என்று கூறி பல கோடிகளை கொள்ளையடித்து சர்ச் உறுப்பினர்களை ஏமாற்றிய பாதிரியார் ஜான்போஸ்கோ மீது நடவடிக்கை எடுக்க வேண்டும். இவ்வாறு மனுவில் கூறியுள்ளனர். இந்த புகாரை பெற்றுக்கொண்ட ஐகோர்ட், பாதிரியார் மீது விசாரணை மேற்கொள்ள கடந்த 7ம் தேதி உத்தரவு பிறப்பித்தது.

இந்தியாவில் கிறிஸ்து மார்க்கம் பரவக் காரணமாக இருந்தது, மதப்பிரச்சாரம் செய்ய வந்தவர்களின் தொண்டூழியமும், அன்பும், தாழ்மையும், பண்பும், சகோதரத்துவமும், இரக்கச் சிந்தையும்தான்.

“ஏழைக்கு இரங்குகிறவன் கர்த்தருக்குக் கடன் கொடுக்கிறான்” என்பது கிறிஸ்துவ வேதவாக்கியம்.

இந்த வேதவசனத்தை நடைமுறைப்படுத்தும் நல்லோர்களாக அவர்கள் இருந்ததால், இந்தியப் பார்ப்பனர்களால் கொடுமைக்கு ஆளாக்கப்பட்டு, தீண்டத்தகாத சூத்திர அடிமைகளாக வாழ்ந்த இந்திய மக்கள் குடும்பம் குடும்பமாக, ஊர் ஊராகக் கிறிஸ்துவ மார்க்கத்தை தஞ்சமடைந்தார்கள்.

அன்னை தெரசா போன்ற சமூக ஊழியர்களையும், கலைக்டர் பக்கிள் துரை போன்ற அரசு நிர்வாகிகளையும் கண்ட இந்திய மக்கள், கிறிஸ்து மார்க்கவாதிகளின் “உன்னைப் போல் பிறனையும் நேசி” என்ற இயேசு மார்க்கத்தை விரும்பித்தழுவினார்கள்.

ஆனால், இன்றைய நிலையில் கிறிஸ்துமார்க்கம் என்பது கோடி கோடியாகப் பணம் சம்பாதிக்கும் மிகப் பெரிய இழிவுத் தொழிலாகிவிட்டது!

ஏழைகளுக்கு இரங்கச் சொன்ன இயேசு வழியை விட்டுவிட்டு, ஏழை எளியோரை ஏமாற்றிக் காணிக்கை பெற்று, கோடிஸ்வரன்களாகும் ‘திருட்டுத் தினகரன்’ வழியில் போய்விட்டார்கள், கிறிஸ்துவ ஊழியக்காரர்கள் என்று பெயர் சொல்லிக் கொள்கிறவர்கள்.

கிறிஸ்துவ ஊழியம் என்பதே இந்திய ஏழைப் பாமரக் கிறிஸ்துவர்களை ஏமாற்றிப் பணம் சம்பாதிப்பதும், கூடும் கூட்டத்தைப் படம் எடுத்து மேல்நாட்டுப் பணக்காரக் கிறிஸ்துவர்களிடம் காட்டிப் பணக் கொள்ளை நடத்துவதும்தான் என்றாகிவிட்டது!

“இலவசமாய் பெற்றீர்கள்; இலவசமாய் கொடுங்கள்” என்று இயேசு தமது போதகர்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறார். ஆனால், இன்றைய ‘கிறிஸ்துமத வியாபாரிகளோ’ எதையும் கொடுத்துப் பழகியவர்களாக இல்லை; வாங்கிக் குவிப்பவர்களாகவே வாழ்கிறார்கள்!

“ஒரே ஒரு இயேசு பிறந்தான்; அவனும் சிலுவையில் அறையப்பட்டு மாண்டான்” என்று சொல்லிப் புலம்பவேண்டிய நிலையிலேயே கிறிஸ்துவ மதத்தின் இன்றைய நிலை ஆகிவிட்டது!

இந்த நிலைக்கு, இந்தியாவில் மூலதாரமாக – முன் உதாரணமாக வழிகாட்டிய அயோக்யன் திருட்டுத் தினகரன்தான்!

ஏழை – எளிய மக்களுக்குத் தொண்டு செய்து, இயேசுவின் நாமத்தைக் கனம் செய்ய வேண்டிய ஊழியக்காரன், அந்த மக்களின் அறியாமையைப் பயன்படுத்தி, காசுபறித்துக் குடும்பத்தையே உலகப் பணக்காரர் வரிசைக்குக் கொண்டு சென்றான் என்பது, ‘ஊழியம்’ என்ற பெயரால் கொள்ளையடிக்க வருவதற்கு முன் வழிகாட்டியாகிவிட்டது.

எல்லோரையும் நோய்களிலிருந்து விடுவித்து ‘அற்புத சுகம்’ கொடுப்பதாக ஏமாற்றி – மோசடி செய்து, கோடி கோடியாகச் சம்பாதித்துக் குடும்பத்தாரை வாழவைத்தத் திருட்டுத் தினகரன், பல நோய்கள் பீடிக்கப்பட்டு சாவுநாள் வருவதற்கு முன்பே ‘பாவத்தின் சம்பளம் மரணம்’ என்ற கிறிஸ்துவ வாக்கியத்துக்கு ஏற்ப செத்துப் போனான்!

அந்தப் பாவி அற்ப ஆயுளில் செத்தபின்பு, அவனது வழியில் மற்றொரு திருடன் ‘புகழ்’ பெற்றுக் கொண்டிருக்கிறான்.

தூத்துக்குடி மாவட்டம், குரும்பூரை அடுத்துள்ளது நாலுமாவடி என்ற சிற்றூர். இந்தச் சிற்றூரில் மிகச் சாதாரண ஏழை மனிதனாக – ‘கோயில் குட்டி’ பணி செய்து கொண்டிருந்தவர், சி.லாரன்ஸ் என்பவர். இவர் திருடன் தினகரன் கூட்டங்களுக்கு அடிக்கடி போய் வந்ததன் விளைவு, இவரும் தினகரனைப் போல் ஒரு ‘கம்பெனி’ தொடங்கக் காரணமாயிற்று!

திருட்டுத் தினகரன் “இயேசு அழைக்கிறார்” என்ற பெயரில் எமாற்றியதுபோல, நாலமாவடி சி.லாசரஸ் என்பவரும் “இயேசு விடுவிக்கிறார்” என்ற பெயரில் திருட்டுத் தொழிலை ஆரம்பித்தார்! தன் பெயரையும் கவர்ச்சியாக மோகன் சி.லாசரஸ் என்று வைத்துக் கொண்டார்.

உண்மையில் இந்த மோகனின் தாய்-தந்தை வழி முன்னோர்கள் அனைவரும் இந்து மதக்காரர்கள்தான்! இந்த மோகன், கோடி கோடியான கொள்ளை வருமானத்திற்காக ‘பெத்தலேகமி’லிருந்து வந்த கிறிஸ்துவனைப்போல நடிக்கிறார்.

இவரது நடிப்பாற்றல் மூலம் மிக் கறுகிய காலத்துக்குள்ளேயே கோடீஸ்வரனாகி விட்டார்! இன்றைய தூத்துக்குடி மாவட்டத்திலுள்ள பெரும் பணக்காரர்களில் இவரும் ஒருவர் என்ற பட்டியலுக்கு வந்து விட்டார்!

தூத்துக்குடி என். பெரியசாமி குடும்பம்தான் தென் மாவட்டங்களிலேயே, ஒரு தொழிலும் செய்யாமல் முதல் பணக்காரர்களான குடும்பம்! இன்று பெரியசாமியைத் தோற்கடிக்கும் மாபெரும் பணக்காரனாகிவிட்டார், “இயேசு விடுவிக்கிறார்” அதிபர் மோகன்-சி.லாசரஸ்!

நாலுமாவடி கிராமத்தையே விலை பேசி வாங்கிக் கொண்டிருக்கிறார், இயேசுவின் பெயரால்!

“என்னைப் பின்பற்றி வருகிறவன் எல்லாவற்றையும் விட்டு விட்டு வரக்கடவன்” – என்றார், இயேசு.

ஆனால், இந்த நாலுமாவடி இயேசுவோ “எல்லாக் கிறிஸ்துவனும் என்னிடம் தந்து விட்டு போங்கள்” என்று ஊழியம்(?) செய்கிறார்.

நோய் இல்லாத மனிதன் எவனும் பூமியில் இல்லை! திருட்டுத் தினகரனும் நோயால்தான் செத்தான்! மோகன்-சி.லாசரஸ்சுக்கும் நோய்களுண்டு.

இந்த நோயாளி லாசரஸ்தான் மற்றவர்களுக்கு சுகம் அளிப்பதாகச் சொல்லி, காசடித்துக் கொண்டிருக்கிறார்! பாமரக் கிறிஸ்துவர்களும் கோடி கோடியாகக் காணிக்கை தந்து கொண்டிருக்கிறார்கள்! மோகன் உல்லாச வாழக்கை வாழ்ந்து கொண்டிருக்கிறார்.

கூடும் கூட்டத்தை வீடியோ படம் எடுத்து, வெளிநாடுகளில் கொண்டு போய் கிறிஸ்துமதப் பிரச்சாரம் செய்வதாகச் சொல்லி, அங்கிருந்தும் பெரும் தொகையைப் பெற்றுக் கொள்கிறார், மோகன் சி.லாசரஸ்!

இவர் அண்மையில் சென்னையிலுள்ள நட்சத்திர ஓட்டல் ஒன்றில் பெரும் பணக்காரர்களுக்கென்று, அற்புத சுகமளிக்கும் ஜெபக்கூட்டம் ஒன்றை நடத்தினார். அந்தக் கூட்டத்திற்கு ஆபாசச் சினிமா நடிகை நக்மா என்பவரையும் அழைத்து வந்திருந்தார்.

நடிகை நக்மா ஆபாசத்தொழில் செய்வதில் புகழ் பெற்றவர். அடிக்கடி அரபு நாடுகளுக்குப்போய் பணம் சம்பாதித்து வருவார். இந்தியாவில் குற்றம் செய்து விட்டு, அரபுநாடுகளில் பதுங்கிக்கொண்டிருக்கும் பலரோடு, நடிகை நக்மா தொடர்புள்ளவர் என்றெல்லாம் கூடப் பத்திரிகைச் செய்திகள் வந்ததுண்டு!

அத்தகைய நடிகை நக்மாவோடுதான் “இயேசு ஊழியம்” செய்வதாகச் சொல்லி, கிறிஸ்துவர்களை ஏமாற்றும் மோகன் சி.லாசரஸ் தொடர்பு கொண்டு, நட்சத்திர ஓட்டலில் “ஊழியம்” செய்திருக்கிறார்கள்!

நட்சத்திர ஓட்டல் நெருக்கம் காரணமாக, நாலுமாவடி கிராமத்துக்கும் நக்மாவை அழைத்துப் போய் “அல்லேலூயா” பிரச்சாரம் செய்திருக்கிறார்கள்.

சினிமா நடிகைகளை நேரில் காண்பதில் பாமர ஆசை கொண்ட கிராமத்து மக்கள், ஆயிரக்கணக்கில் கூடி, நடிகை நக்மாவின் ‘அல்லேலூயா’ ஆட்டத்தைக் கண்டு களித்திருக்கிறார்கள்.

எல்லா வியாபார விளம்பரங்களுக்கும் ஆபாசப் பெண்களின் அரை நிர்வாணம் தேவைப்படும் காலம் இது! கிரிக்கெட் ஆட்டத்திலும் ரசிகர்களை குஷிப்படுத்த அம்மணப் பெண்களை இடையிடையே ஆட்ட விடுகிறார்கள்! ரசிகர்களும் விசிலடித்து ரசிக்கிறார்கள்!

எனவே, ஏமாற்றுத் தொழில் செய்யும் மோகன் சி.லாசரஸ் தன் தொழில் பிரபலத்துக்கு ‘குலுக்காட்ட’ நடிகை நக்மாவைக் கொண்டு வந்து, கூட்டத்தைக்கூட்டி, கூடிய கூட்டத்தை வீடியோ எடுத்து வெளிநாட்டுக்கு அனுப்பி ‘காணிக்கை வியாபாரம்’ செய்து கொண்டிருக்கிறார்!

“ஊசியின் காதுக்குள் ஒட்டகத்தைப் புகுத்தினாலும், பணக்காரன் பரலோக ராஜியத்தில் பிரவேசிக்க மாட்டான்” – என்பதெல்லாம் பெத்தலேகமில் பிறந்த பழைய இயேசுவின் வழி!

இந்தியாவில் தோன்றியுள்ள தினகரன், லாசரஸ் போன்ற புதிய அப்போஸ்தலர்களோ, ‘கோடிஸ்வரன் வாழ்க்கையே பரலோக இன்பம்’ என்ற இழிவு வாழ்க்கைக்கு வந்துவிட்டார்கள்!

பழைய இயேசுவோ, “பாவப்பட்ட எல்லா மக்களும் என்னிடத்தில் வாருங்கள்” என்றார்! இந்தப் பொய் வியாபாரிகளோ, “காணிக்கை செலுத்தப்பணம் உள்ளவர்கள் மட்டும் என்னிடம் வாருங்கள்” என்கிறார்கள்!

வியாபாரக் கவர்ச்சிக்கு நக்மாக்களைக் கொண்டுவந்து “அல்லேலூயா” போடச்சொல்லுகிறார்கள்!

பார்ப்பனர்களின் இந்து மதத்தால் சூத்திர நாலாஞ்சாதியாக்கப்பட்டு, தாகத்திற்கு தண்ணீர் கேட்டால் கூட தனித்தகரக் குவளையில் தந்து, செத்த பிணத்தைக் கூட தனிச்சுடுகாட்டில் போடு என்று வருண தருமம் அனுபவித்து மீண்ட மக்கள், ஏழை பங்களான் இயேசுவைத் தேடி வந்தால் இடையிலே இப்படிப் பணப் பேய்களாக தினகரன் – லாசரஸ் போன்ற திருடர்கள் நிற்கிறார்கள்!

தெரு ஓரத்திலே மோடி வித்தை காட்டும் ஏமாற்றுத் தொழில்காரர்களைப் போல, வித்தை காட்டி மக்களை மோசம் செய்யும் இந்த ஏமாற்றுக்காரர்களிடமிருந்து மக்கள் மீண்டும் வரவேண்டும்.

நாட்டை ஆட்சி செய்பவர்களும் லாசரஸ் போன்ற மோசடிக்காரர்களிடமிருந்து மக்களைக் காப்பாற்ற நடவடிக்கை எடுக்க வேண்டும்.

வேறு பல மாநிலங்களில் இந்த அற்புதச் சுகக்கூட்டங்களை அரசு தடை செய்திருப்பதைப் போலத் தமிழ்நாட்டிலும் அரசு தடை போடவேண்டும். தமிழக அரசுக்கு மானமும் அறிவும் வரவேண்டும்.

இயேசு பிரசிங்கித்தார் என்றால் அவர் இந்தத் திருடர்களைப்போல் காணிக்கை வாங்கி, குடும்ப டிரஸ்ட்டுகள் அமைத்து கோடிஸ்வரனாகவில்லை என்பதை கிறிஸ்துவர்கள் சிந்திப்பார்களாக!

ஹொலண்ட் நாட்டு பாதிரியார் (ஹொலண்ட், ரொட்டெர்டாம்)இலங்கையில் பாலியல் நடவடிக்கையில் ஈடுபட்டதாக புகார் செய்யப்பட்டதை தொடர்ந்து அவர் தற்காலிகமாக பணியில் இருந்து விலக்கப்பட்டுள்ளார்.
இலங்கைக்கு ஒவ்வொரு வருடமும் சுற்றுலா செல்லும் இவர் அங்கு சில அறக்கட்டளை பணிகளையும் செய்து வந்துள்ளதாக கூறப்படுகின்றது. இது தொடர்பான குற்ற சாட்டினை விசாரித்து ரொட்டெர்டாம் கத்தோலிக்க சபையின் தலைவர் இந்த பாதிரியார் நிதி கையாடல் மற்றும் பாலியல் குற்ற சாட்டுக்களில் ஈடுபட்டதனால் விசாரணைகள் முற்றுப்பெறும்வரை தற்காலிகமாக இவரது பணிக்காலம் நிறுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளதாக அறிவித்துள்ளார்.

பாலியல் சர்ச்சையில் ஊட்டி பாதிரியார்

அமெரிக்க தேவாலயம் ஒன்றில் பணியாற்றித் திரும்பிய இந்தியப் பாதிரியார் மீது தெரிவிக்கப்படும் சிறார் பாலியல் துஷ்பிரயோகக் குற்றச்சாட்டுகளை அவர் மறுத்துள்ளார்.

அமெரிக்கா மின்னசோட்டாமாநிலத்தில் க்ரூக்ஸ்டன் என்ற பகுதியில் பணியாற்றியபோது சிறுமிகளிடம் தவறாக நடந்துகொண்டார் என்று கத்தோலிக்க பாதிரியார் ஜோசஃப் பழனிவேல் ஜெயபால் மீது குற்றம்சாட்டப்பட்டுள்ளது.

“ஜெயபால் மீதான குற்றச்சாட்டுகள் சந்தேகத்திற்கிடமின்றி நிரூபிக்கப்படவில்லை, ஆயினுங்கூட மீண்டும் மீண்டும் புகார்கள் எழுவதால், பிரச்சினை அகில இந்திய கத்தோலிக்க பிஷப்புக்களின் அமைப்பான Catholic Bishops Conference of Indiaவின் முன் வைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறது; அதன் உத்தரவின் பேரில் அடுத்தகட்ட நடவடிக்கை மேற்கொள்ளப்படும்” என தற்போது ஜெயபால் பணியாற்றும் ஊட்டி மறைமாவட்டத்தின் ஆயரான பிஷப் அருளப்பன் அமல்ராஜ் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.

சர்ச்சைக்குரிய ஜோசஃப் ஜெயபால் மின்னசோட்டா மாநிலத்தில் செப்டம்பர் 2004லிருந்து ஆகஸ்ட் 2005 வரை க்ரூக்ஸ்டன் என்ற பகுதியில் பணியாற்றியிருக்கிறார்.

மூன்றாண்டுகள் அங்கே தங்கி அவர் பணியாற்றியிருக்க முடியும், ஆனால் நோய்வாய்ப்பட்ட தனது தாயைப் பார்க்கவேண்டுமென்று ஓராண்டிலேயே இந்தியா திரும்பிவிட்டார்.

மின்னசோட்டா பணிக் காலத்தில் ஒரு சிறுமியுடன் தவறான உறவு வைத்திருந்ததாகவும், ஒரு தேவாலயத்தின் பணத்தைக் கையாடியதாகவும் அவர் இந்தியா வந்த பிறகு அவர் மீது புகார்கள் எழுந்தன.

வேறொரு சிறுமியும் ஜெயபால் தன்னை பாலியல் பலாத்காரத்திற்கு உட்படுத்தினார் என்று பின்னர் குற்றஞ்சாட்டினார்.

ரோசோ கவுண்டி என்ற பகுதியில் ஜெயபால் மீது ஜனவரி 2007ல் கிரிமினல் வழக்குக்கள் பதிவு செய்யப்பட்டன.

ஜெயபாலை அமெரிக்காவிற்கு திரும்ப அழைத்து வழக்கு நடத்த முயற்சிகள் மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்டிருப்பதாகவும், ஆனால் இந்தியா அம்முயற்சிகளுக்கு ஒத்துழைக்கவில்லையென்றும்ரோசோ கவுண்டியின் அரசு வழக்கறிஞர் கூறியிருக்கிறார்.

ஆனால் தான் குற்றமற்றவர் என்றும் தன் மீதான வழக்குகளை சந்திக்கத் தயாரென்றும் கத்தோலிக்க திருச்சபையின் செய்தி நிறுவனமான யூ.சி.ஏ.விற்கு அளித்துள்ள பேட்டியில் 57 வயதான ஜெயபால் கூறியிருக்கிறார்.

தேவைப்பட்டால் பாதிரியார் ஜெயபால் அமெரிக்கா சென்று அவருக்கு எதிரான வழக்குக்களை சந்தித்தே ஆகவேண்டும் என ஊட்டி பிஷப் அமல்ராஜிடம் திட்டவட்டமாக தெரிவித்திருப்பதாக சென்னை ஆர்ச் பிஷப் சின்னப்பா கூறியிருக்கிறார்.
