A series of con fessions over email helped Go kul Macheri, 33, a marketing manager accused of making hoax bomb threat calls, gain a hold over his wife, his ex-girlf riend and her husband. He has also confessed to murder ing his wife though police are yet to take that case forward.

Gokul created an email ad dress and pretended to be a clergyman to get his ex-girlf riend's husband Saju Jose to confess he had visited sex workers when his wife was away from the city , police sources said. Gokul's glib talk convinced Jose to tape a con fession in the nude and send it to him.

The accused, who had also been emailing Jose's wife pre tending to a bishop in Thris sur, used the video to prove that her husband was unfaith ful and cause a rift in their marriage.

Gokul, who has since been arrested for making threaten ing calls to Kempegowda In ternational Airport using a SIM card obtained in the name of Jose, hatched an elab orate plot to frame Jose in terror cases and have him im prisoned. Gokul then planned to get back together with Jos e's wife, who was his college sweetheart.

The two men and their families stayed in an apart ment complex at HSR Layout in southeast Bengaluru.

Gokul had set his plan in motion more than a month ago, when he allegedly mur dered his wife Anuradha and convinced police it was an ac cident. He laid the ground work for the terror plot, part of his plan to create divisions be tween Jose and his wife. He impersonated a Thrissur bishop and sent a series of emails to Jose, playing on his religiosity. Gokul asked Jose in one of the emails to confess his sins. After some cajoling Jose confessed to having visit ed sex workers when his wife was away from Bengaluru.

Police sources said Gokul then convinced Jose that he would seek pardon from god for Jose's sins. Gokul, pre tending to be the bishop wrote, “Son, remove your clothes, kneel down before a camera, recite your prayers and confide your sin. Record the same and send it to me. The nude video should help me get the Lord to cleanse your body and sins.“ Jose followed the priest's counsel and sent off the video. Gokul, meanwhile, had also been working on Jose's wife and flooded her with emails pretending to be the bishop. “If Saju breaches your trust, how may he do it?“ he wrote. Her reply: “It is impossible to imagine, but yes, he may complain saying I am not devoted to religion and god.“

Gokul's wife's autopsy report not yet receive

Bengaluru: Three days after Gokul Macheri, accused of making bomb threat calls to the airport and holding up three flights, is said to have confessed to killing his wife Anuradha on July 28, investigation into the murder has made no progress. Neither the Central Crime Branch (CCB), investigating the hoax call case, nor the jurisdictional Madiwala police have taken up the investigation.

The case of suspicious death registered on the basis of Gokul's complaint that his wife fell and died is yet to be altered into a murder case. “There has been no direction to hand over the case to CCB. The local police will investigate the murder. We only found during interrogation that the man killed his wife,“ a senior CCB officer said.

DCP (south-east) Rohini Katoch-Sepat, without revealing any details, asked TOI to speak with the investigating officer, Madiwala station house officer Nagaraj G. “We have not received the case file from the CCB yet to revisit the house, conduct a mahazar (inspection and documentation of a crime scene) or take Gokul into custody for further investigation,“ Nagaraj said. Asked what the postmortem report had revealed, given that the case was registered as an unnatural death under suspicious circumstances, he said: “The report is yet to come. We are waiting for the report and expect it to come by next week.“

Gokul planted skull cap, dagger in Saju's home

Bengaluru: Gokul Macheri allegedly planted a skull cap, prayer beads and a dagger in the house of his neighbour Saju Jose, to create suspicion in the mind of the latter's wife that her husband had become an extremist, police sources said.

Saju Jose's wife, Dhanya Babu, told police that about a month ago, she found a skull cap, prayer beads and a dagger in their cupboard. Although she asked Jose about it, he said he didn't know where they came from, senior police officials said.

She, however, did not suspect that Gokul, her former classmate and neighbour, had planted the three things. Gokul had a duplicate key of the Joses' flat and it never crossed Dhanya's mind that he could've had a hand in it. Gokul had told the couple he could let in Joses' two little daughters when they returned from school, and had taken a key from them, Dhanya told police officers.

“She destroyed them later, without really suspecting Gokul because he was a good friend,“ an officer said. However, police are trying to find the person who sold the skull cap and rosary to Gokul.“He bought this during Ramzan when there were shops all over the city. It will be difficult to find the person,“ he said.
