Amusement park owner and daughter held for land fraud

Police on Thursday arrested an amusement park owner and his daughter for forging documents to take possession of a plot of land worth `13 crore in Kolapakkam near Porur.
Based on a complaint from Raj Kumar, a resident of Velachery , CCB sleuths apprehended E V Perumalsamy , founder chairman of EVP Amusement Park near Poonamallee, and his daughter Leela Devi.
Police booked them on charges of cheating and criminal breach of trust. A court remanded them in judicial custody . They are now in Puzhal Central Prison.
Raj Kumar alleged that his mother Lakshmi Ammal, who died in 2006, had in 2004 entered into a sale agreement with Perumalsamy for a 2.3-acre site in Kolapakkam. The agreement mentioned that the registration would take place only after Perumalsamy settled the said amount within 18 months. He failed to do so and the agreement was cancelled, Raj Kumar said.
In the meantime, Perumalsamy forged some documents and prepared a fake power of attorney in the name of his daughter Leela Devi and transferred the land in his name, the complaint stated.
CCB sleuths said Leela Devi was already involved in a case of land grab. In 2003, she allegedly took possession of a 17 acre site worth `80 crore in Poonamallee after cheating the owner, a woman named Prema, by making a fake power of attorney document.
In October 2012, a cabin crew member of a private airline died in an accident while enjoying a joyride at the amusement park.
