Planning to showcase the proposed capi al city of Amaravati as his major achievement in the run up to the 2019 Assembly elections, AP chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has directed ministers and senior officials to expedite the construc ion of at least a dozen skyscrapers in the irst phase and complete it by 2018. Naidu will then have one year at his disposal to market Amaravati among the voters.
In a closed door meeting with a few ministers late Tuesday night, Naidu reportedly conveyed his desire that 12 major buildings be ready in the capital region in the next three years. He also shared the plan with the Singapore team, which is entrusted with the task of capital design and construction.
“The plan is to complete two iconic towers, each with 45 floors, and 10 major buildings to house ministries and depart ments. A few commercial establishments will also be located in these buildings that will come up in the proposed downtown and gov ernment sector in Amaravati,“ a minister, who attended the meeting, told TOI.
