A priest belonging to Palayamkottai diocese in Tamil Nadu was found murdered in the pastoral center.

Police broke into the room of Father G. Amalan after receiving complaints of foul smell on Feb. 16.

The 54-year-old priest was the secretary of the diocese’s family commission.

They found the priest’s naked body lying on the bed with hands and legs tied and a pillow kept on his face, Father Antonysamy, vicar general of the diocese told ucanews.com Feb 17.

“It was shocking to see his body,” he said and added that the autopsy report indicated the priest was murdered on Feb. 14.

The vicar general also quoted the police as suspecting the murder took place for money.

The police are looking for a person who regularly visited the murdered priest.

Bishop Jude Paulraj of Palayamkottai expressed shock at the murder. Father Amalan “was a simple, honest and a kind person. It is very sad he died like this,” the prelate told ucanews.com

The funeral took place on Feb 17.

கன்னியாஸ்திரி கற்பழிப்பு: தொடரும் மரணங்கள், மர்மங்கள், மறைப்புகள்!

மர்மமான மரணம்: மண்டையுடைப்பு / மாரடைப்பு: திருச்சி செயின்ட் ஜோஸப் பாதிரி, புளோரன்ஸ் மேரி என்ற கன்னியாஸ்திரியைக் கற்பழித்ததற்காக கைது செய்யப் பட்டார்[1]. கைது செய்யக் கூட போலீஸார் காலம் தாழ்த்தினர்[2]. பிறகு, நிபந்தைகள் கூடிய ஜாமீனில் வெளியே வந்தார்[3]. மற்ற பாதிரிகளோ, நிபந்தைகள் இல்லாமல் ஜாமீனில் வந்தனர்[4]. தினமும், போலீஸ் ஸ்டேஷனுக்கு வந்து கையெழுத்துப் போட்டு வந்தார். மருத்துவ பரிசோதனை அறிக்கையின் விவரங்களும் மறைக்கப் பட்டன[5]. வீருகொண்டு எழுந்த சில இயக்கங்களும் காணாமல் போய்விட்டன[6]. ஊடகங்கள் வழக்கம் போல அமைதியயகி விட்டன. இந்நிலையில், பாதிரியார்கள் மறுபடியும், இந்த வழக்கை மூடி மறைக்க வேலைசெய்து வருவது தெரிய வந்துள்ளது. இன்னொரு பாதிரி சூசை மர்மமான முறையில் இறந்துள்ளார். சூசையின் உதவியாளர், ஜன்னல் வழியாகப் பார்த்தபோது, பின் மண்டை உடைந்து, மூக்கில் ரத்தம் வழிந்து, கைலி கட்டிய நிலையில், தரையில் சூசை பிணமாகக் கிடந்தார். ஆனால், கல்லூரி முதல்வர் செபாஸ்டின் வெளியிட்ட அறிக்கையில், படுக்கையில் உயிரற்ற நிலையில் சூசை இறந்திருந்தார்”, என்றுள்ளது!

திருச்சிசெயின்ட்ஜோசப்கல்லூரிஅதிபர்சூசைமர்மமரணம்[7]: திருச்சி செயின்ட் ஜோசப் கல்லூரி அதிபர், ரெக்டார், சாமியார் P. சூசை மர்மமான முறையில் 19-12-2010 அன்று இறந்து கிடந்தார். ஏற்கனவே, கன்னியாஸ்திரி கற்பழிப்பு சர்ச்சையில் இக்கல்லூரியின் முதல்வர் சிக்கியுள்ள நிலையில், அதிபரின் மர்ம மரணம் பெரும் பரபரப்பை ஏற்படுத்தியுள்ளது. பாதிரிகள் நீக்கம் பற்றிய ஆணையை பிறப்பித்தவர் இவர் என்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது. சந்தேகமடைந்த திரவியநாதன் அவரது அறையின் ஜன்னலை திறந்து பார்த்தார். அப்போது, பின் மண்டை உடைந்து, மூக்கில் ரத்தம் வழிந்து, கைலி கட்டிய நிலையில், தரையில் சூசை பிணமாகக் கிடந்தார். அவர் கொலை செய்யப்பட்டாரா என்ற சந்தேகம் எழுந்துள்ளது[8]. கல்லூரி முதல்வர் செபாஸ்டின் வெளியிட்ட அறிக்கை: “நேற்று காலை நடந்த திருப்பலிக்கு, சூசை அடிகளார் வரவில்லை. அதனால் சந்தேகமடைந்து, கல்லூரி முதல்வர் செபாஸ்டின், செயின்ட் ஜோசப் மேல்நிலைப் பள்ளி தலைமையாசிரியர் குழந்தைராஜ், இல்ல நிர்வாகி ஆரோக்கியராஜ் மற்றும் போலீஸ் ஏ.சி., சீனிவாசன் அவரது அறைக்குச் சென்று பார்த்தனர். பூட்டியிருந்த அவரது அறை கதவை உடைத்து உள்ளே சென்ற போது, படுக்கையில் உயிரற்ற நிலையில் சூசை இறந்திருந்தார்.இதைப் பற்றி, விவரங்களை மறைத்து, மாரடைப்பினால் இறந்தார் என்று, உடலை புதைத்துவிட்டனர்.

திருச்சி கன்னியாஸ்திரி, மக்கள் குறை தீர் கூட்டத்தில் மனு (07-02-2011): திருச்சி கன்னியாஸ்திரி பிளாரன்ஸ் மேரிக்கு பாலியல் தொந்தரவு கொடுத்த வழக்கில், புனித ஜோசப் கல்லூரி முன்னாள் முதல்வர் பாதிரியார் ராஜரத்தினம் மீது போலீசார் குற்றப்பத்திரிகை தாக்கல் செய்தனர். இந்நிலையில் குற்றப்பத்திரிகையை போலீசார் திரும்பப்பெற்றனர். இதனையடுத்து குற்றப்பத்திரிகையில் இணைக்கப்பட்டுள்ள பெயர்களில் அரசியல்வாதிகள் நெருக்கடியாலும், போலீஸ் கமிஷனர் நெருக்கடியால் மாற்றம் செய்யப்பட வாய்ப்பு இருப்பதாக கூறி கன்னியாஸ்திரி பிளாரன்ஸ் மேரி திருச்சி கலெக்டர் அலுவலகத்தில் மக்கள் குறை தீர் கூட்டத்தில் அதிகாரிகளிடம் மனு கொடுத்தார்[9].இதுகுறித்து அறிந்த கன்னியாஸ்திரி ப்ளாரன்ஸ் மேரி, பிப்.,7ம் தேதி, தன் வக்கீல் இருதயசாமியுடன், கலெக்டர் அலுவலகத்தில் நடந்த மக்கள் குறைதீர் முகாமில் புகார் மனு அளித்தார். அதில், “போலீஸ் உயரதிகாரிகளும், ஜே.எம்., 1மாஜிஸ்திரேட்டும் சேர்ந்து, குற்றப்பத்திரிகையில் உள்ள சில குற்றவாளிகளை காப்பாற்ற முயற்சிக்கின்றனர்‘ என்று கூறியிருந்தார்

போலீஸ் கமிஷனரிடம் புகார் (10-02-2011):.கன்னியாஸ்திரி ப்ளாரன்ஸ் மேரி 10-02-2011 மதியம் ஒரு மணியளவில் திடீரென திருச்சி மாநகர போலீஸ் கமிஷனர் அலுவலகத்துக்கு வந்து, போலீஸ் கமிஷனர் வன்னியபெருமாளிடம் புகார் மனு அளித்தார். அதில், “குற்றப்பத்திரிகையில் உள்ள குற்றவாளிகளின் பெயர்களை நீக்க கோட்டை போலீசார் மேற்கொண்டுள்ள முயற்சியை தடுத்து நிறுத்த வேண்டும்‘ என்று கூறியுள்ளார்[10]. பின்னர் கன்னியாஸ்திரி ப்ளாரன்ஸ் மேரி நிருபர்களிடம் கூறியதாவது: “குற்றப்பத்திரிகையில் உள்ள இரண்டு பெயர்களை நீக்கவும்,ஆவணங்களை அழிக்கவும் கோட்டை போலீசார் முயற்சித்து வருகின்றனர். அதை தடுத்து நிறுத்த வேண்டும் என்று கமிஷனரிடம் மனு கொடுத்தேன். குற்றவாளிகளுக்கு அரசியல் பலம், பணபலம், போலீஸ் உயரதிகாரிகள், நீதித்துறையில் உள்ளவர்கள் என பலரும் ஆதரவாக இருப்பதால், வழக்கை சி.பி.ஐ., விசாரிக்க வேண்டும் என்று விரைவில் உச்சநீதிமன்றத்தில் மனுதாக்கல் செய்யவுள்ளேன்”, இவ்வாறு அவர் கூறினார்[11]. கடந்த 7ம் தேதி, போலீஸ் கமிஷனரும், மாஜிஸ்திரேட்டும் இணைந்து தான், குற்றப்பத்திரிகையில் உள்ளவர்களை காப்பாற்ற முயற்சிக்கின்றனர் என்று கன்னியாஸ்திரி ப்ளாரன்ஸ் மேரி கலெக்டர் அலுவலகத்தில் மனு கொடுத்தார்[12]. ஆனால், அவர் குற்றஞ்சாட்டிய, போலீஸ் கமிஷனரிடமே, ப்ளாரன்ஸ் மேரி நேற்று முன்தினம் மனு கொடுத்துள்ளது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.

குற்றப்பத்திரிக்கை தாக்கல்[13]: ஜனவரி 8,9,1.2011 ஆகிய 2 நாட்கள் போலீஸ் கஸ்டடியில் பாதிரியார் விசாரிக்கப்பட்டார். அதன் பிறகு ஜாமீனில் விடுதலை ஆனார். இதற்கிடையே பாதிரியார் ராஜரத்தினம் தரப்பில் நிபந்தனை ஜாமீனை தளர்த்த கோரி உச்சநீதிமன்றத்தில் வழக்கு தொடரப்பட்டது. அதன் மீதான விசாரணை 15.2.2011-ந்தேதி வருகிறது. இதற்கிடையே வழக்கு தொடரப்பட்ட 90 நாட்களுக்குள் குற்றப்பத்திரிக்கை தாக்கல் செய்யப்பட வேண்டும் என்பதால் கோட்டை மகளிர் போலீசார் தீவிர விசாரணை நடத்தினர். பிளாரன்சு மேரி வழக்கில் சாட்சியங்கள் சந்தர்பங்களை திரட்டி குற்றப்பத்திரிகை தயார் செய்தனர். இறுதியில் பாதிரியார் ராஜரத்தினம் மீது சுமார் 110 பக்கம் கொண்ட குற்றப்பத்திரிகையை திருச்சி மாஜிஸ்திரேட்டு நடுவர் எண்.1ல் மாஜிஸ்திரேட்டு ஆபிரகாம் லிங்கனிடம் தாக்கல் செய்தனர். இதில் பாதிரியார் பிளான்சுமேரியை மிரட்டிய, பாதிரியார்கள் மற்றும் பிளாரன்சுமேரிக்கு கருகலைப்பு செய்த தென்னூர் ஆஸ்பத்திரி டாக்டர் ஆகியோர் பெயர்களும் குற்றப்பத்திரிகையில் இடம் பிடித்து உள்ளது. மேலும் இவ்வழக்கில் சாட்சிகளாக பிளாரன்சுமேரி அவரது அக்காமேரி, உள்பட 28 பேர் சாட்சிகளாக சேர்க்கப்பட்டு உள்ளனர். பாதிரியார் வழக்கில் குற்றப்பத்திரிகை தாக்கல் செய்யப்பட்டு உள்ளதை தொடர்ந்து விரைவில் விசாரணை தொடங்குகிறது. இதைத் தொடர்ந்து மீண்டும் வழக்கு சூடுபிடித்து உள்ளது

பாதிரியார்களின் ஸ்பெக்ட்ரம் போன்ற ஊழல்: இது பாதிரியார்களின் ஸ்பெக்ட்ரம் போன்ற ஊழல் எனலாம் போலிருக்கிறது. எப்படி கோடிகள் வளர்ந்தனவோ, இதிலும் கற்பழிப்பு கன்னியாஸ்திரிகளின் எண்ணிக்கையும் வளர்ந்தது[14]. கன்னியாஸ்திரிகளின் புகார்களும் பெருகின[15]. அந்நேரத்தில் தமிழகத்திற்கு வந்த கந்தர்புரி பிஷப் கூட நொந்து விட்டார்[16]. ஆனால், எல்லாவற்றையும் மறைத்துவிட்டனர். எப்படி ஊழலில் கூட நம் நாட்டில் பாரபட்சம் பார்க்கின்றனரோ, அதே போல, செக்ஸ் குற்றங்களில் கூட, பாரபட்சமமகவே, ஊடகங்கள், நீதிமன்றங்கள், சட்டத்தை அமூல் படுத்தும் அதிககரிகள், நிறுவனங்கள் எல்லாமே அவ்வாறுதான் நடந்து கொள்கின்றன.

Greed rampant in priestly class, says ex-IAS officer

During their inception in India, the objective of both Catholic and Anglican Church missionary groups was to spread the Christian faith and deliver education to the far reaches of the continent, particularly the deprived classes. These men braved all opposition and aided by beneficiaries sowed the seeds of what we see as the modern Christian institutions in India.

However, according to Major J. Victor, general secretary of the Laity Association of CSI-Madras Diocese, the era of those dedicated people has long gone with the Church in India now transformed into a "lair of hyenas", vying for the vast amount of riches that the foreign missionaries left behind.

"'Money is the root cause for all evil' is a true saying and it has become a chronic disease in many of the church leaders too. From minor cases like the criminal case against Madras CSI bishop for allegedly misusing of `4.82 crore collected from abroad without the knowledge of CSI to the FIR registered against the present CSI moderator for allegedly diverting large amounts of money from the Bishop Cotton's boys and girls school into his personal account, corruption in the church is being exposed to a great extent. The inspiration for the Church of South India (CSI) was born from ecumenism and inspired by these words from the Holy Bible: "That they all may be one, as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou has sent me." (Gospel of John 17.21). However, those heading the CSI of Tamil Nadu seem to believe and follow only the last portion of the quote, that they are God's own installation upon the earth and can carry forth anything as per their wish," Mr Victor said.

Mr M.G. Devasahayam, a retired IAS official and convener of the Joint Christian Action Council, formed recently to protect the properties of churches, said, "The most prime property in Chennai, on the banks of the Adyar river, which formed part of the D'Monte Trust with the archbishop of Madras-Mylapore as the trustee, originally measured 105 acres. But, by 1995, it had shrunk to about 12 acres (212 grounds Bens Garden). In 2001/02, this remnant of the John D'Monte trust was alienated to two private parties in violation of the trust conditions.
However, the approval for leasing out 150 grounds to a leading businessman was turned down by the Madras high court and, subsequently, he vacated the premises.
But approval for leasing out another 50 grounds to the other party was not at all sought from the high court.
The businessman still occupies the property. The second attempt to lease out the same 150 grounds also did not materialise. Because of this, the trust properties have got encumbered or entangled in litigation. The properties are not earning any revenue whatsoever and this has resulted in grave loss to the trust. All these are due to rampant corruption and greed among the church authorities," Mr Devasahayam alleged.

All attempts to contact the archbishop of MadrasMylapore A.M. Chinnappa, and CSI bishop V. Devasahayam failed as calls to both the bishops' mobile phones were not attended and the office-bearers stated that they were either attending `important' meetings or were `out of station'.

Lord Jesus Christ had said, "My Kingship is not of this world" (John 18:36). This meant that His disciples and their successors should keep away from the temptation of `temporal wealth'. But, today, Chris tianity is in grave crisis as there are several litiga tions alleging misap propriation of funds and attempts to grab church prop erties. Rising to the occasion, eminent personalities like judges, lawyers and bureaucrats demand formulating a separate law like Muslim Wakf and Sikh Gurdwara Acts, to pro ect the properties and finances of Indian churches.

Foreign missionaries and the forefathers of Indian Christians purchased landed properties in the name of churches, educational institutions, trusts, hospitals and orphanages for the noble cause of doing service to society. As a result, various educational institutions, hospitals and orphanages flourished and were doing yeoman service to the nation. Almost all Christian congregations own properties in every metropolitan city and town in India.

According to advocates P.T. Perumal, E. Edwig and V. Varghese, who are handling cases relating to church properties, "With so much wealth under their control and with no effective mechanism to monitor them, the heads of Christian organisations are allegedly tempted to dilute those properties. As a result, litigations pile up based on allegations of corruption, forgery and misappropriation. Recently, a bishop of a Christian congregation was put in jail. Violent incidents and law order problems were created in a bishop's headquarters in Tiruchy in a group fight over sale of properties."

Justice K.T. Thomas, a former judge of the Supreme Court, former IAS officers L.M. Menezes and M.G.
Devasahayam, former Kerala minister N.M. Joseph, Major Joseph Victor, president, CSI Laity Association, Bhaskar Benny, president Indian Christian Party, Andhra Pradesh, and others have formed a Joint Christian Action Council (JCAC).
The JCAC held its first convention meeting on `Protecting Church Properties and Assets' in Chennai on Nov.
20, 2010, in which Catholics, Lutherans and Christians belonging to the Church of South India, representing Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Puducherry, participated.

According to JCAC, "The Christian community in India Catholic and Protestant have thousands of crores of rupees worth property and assets, which are outside the regulatory control of any law. The community has practically no say in the administration of these huge wealth/assets, which are being squandered and misappropriated by the priestly class".

Muslim Wakf and Sikh Gurdwara Acts, enacted under Article 25 of the Constitution, were protecting the properties and assets of these minorities without government intervention.
Article 26 of the Constitution permits religious denominations to own and acquire moveable and immoveable property and administer them in accordance with law.

Christianity was the only religious community that has no law to protect its properties, the JCAC added, and passed a resolution, appealing to Parliament and state legislatures to enact a suitable law to protect the properties, assets and institutions of Christian churches.

It also entrusted with JCAC the task of drafting a model bill to be submitted to the authorities and pursue other means if the law is not formulated in time. A copy of the resolution was sent to the President, Prime Minister and Union law minister.

Mr Devasahayam and Clement Selvaraj, JCAC members from Chennai, said Mr Devasahayam received a copy of the communication from the President's Secretariat, forwarding the petition to the Union home ministry stating that the petitioner would be informed of the action taken, after intimation to the President's Secretariat When attempts were made to get comments, CSI bishop V. அதன்படி மேரியும் எழுதி வந்தார். இந்த நிலையில் போப் ஆண்டவர் ஜான்பால் இறந்த 2 மாதத்தில் கன்னியாஸ்திரி மேரி சிமோன் பியேரி முழுமையாக குணம் அடைந்தார். போப் ஆண்டவர் ஜான்பாலின் கருணை மற்றும் அருளாசியினாலும் தான் நான் நோயில் இருந்து மீண்டேன். இது எனக்கு மறுபிறவி என அவர் தெரிவித்தார்.

தற்போது நான் எப்போதும் போன்று நலமாக இருக்கிறேன். எனது தசைகள் நன்றாக இயங்குகின்றன என்றும் நிருபர்களிடம் அவர் தெரிவித்தார். மறைந்த போப் ஆண்டவர் ஜான்பாலுக்கு கடந்த மே 1-ந் தேதி அருளாளர் பட்டம் வழங்கப்பட்டது. அடுத்ததாக அவர் மரணம் அடைந்த 5 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு பிறகு தான் இவர் நிகழ்த்தும் அற்புதங்களை வைத்து புனிதர் பட்டம் வழங்கப்படும்.

பங்குச் சந்தையின் புள்ளிகளைப் பதற்றத்துடன் அண்ணாந்து உற்று நோக்கும் பங்குதாரர்கள் போல, பங்குச்சதையின் திருப்பலியைக் கேட்க மண்டியிட்டு அண்ணாந்து பரிதாபமாக இறைஞ்சும் அப்பாவி ஏசுவின் குழந்தைகள்.

சினிமாவுல புது மாப்பிள்ளைய First Nightக்கு ‘ஏற்பாடு’ பண்ணி அனுப்புறத நாம பார்த்திருக்கிறோம். அதுவும் அஞ்சு நிமிசத்துல அந்த காட்சி முடிஞ்சிறும். ஆனால் வருசம் முச்சூடும் பல Fatherகள் மந்தைகளின் வரிப்பணத்தில் தங்களை இப்படித்தானே ‘தயார்’ செய்துக்கொள்கிறார்கள். அப்புறமென்ன… கன்னிமேரிக்கு தொண்டூழியம் செய்யப்போயி… கன்னித்தன்மை இழந்தது தானே மிச்சம் பிளாரன்ஸ் மேரிகளுக்கு.

ஏனென்றால் அந்தப் புள்ளியில்தான் தூயவளனார் நிறுவன சாம்ராஜ்ஜியத்தின் ஒளிவட்டம் பாதுகாக்கப்படுகிறது.

ஓ… மந்தைகளே! அப்பத்தை ஏசுவின் சதையென்றும், ஒயினை ஏசுவின் ரத்தமென்னும் பாதிரிகள் உங்களுக்கு தந்துவிட்டு, ஆனால் அவர்களோ நீங்களெல்லாம் தாயாக மதிக்கின்ற கன்னியாஸ்திரிகள் சதையையும், ரத்தத்தையும், கற்பையுமல்லவா உறிஞ்சுகிறார்கள். ‘நம்ம சாமியார்’ என்று நீங்கள் இன்று மௌனம் சாதிக்கலாம். பிளாரன்ஸ் மேரி இடத்தில் நம்முடைய அக்கா, தங்கை இருந்திருந்தால்… என்ன செய்திருப்பீர்கள்?! மறு கன்னத்தைக் காட்டியிருப்பீர்களா?! சொல்லுங்கள்.

ஒரு துறவிக்கு மிதமிஞ்சி பூர்த்தி செய்யப்பட்ட மற்ற எல்லா சுகபோகங்களும் சேர்ந்துதான் பாலியல் என்கிற காமத்தைக் கோருகின்றன. துறவி என்று நம்பி சாந்தமாக நீங்கள் ஜெபிக்கும் போதெல்லாம் பாதிரியின் எண்ணம் விஸ்வாமித்திரன் ரூபத்தில் வந்து எள்ளி நகையாடுகிறது. துறவு என்கிற அந்த போலியான உண்ணாவிரத முறையிலேயே ‘பழச்சாரு’ என்கிற அந்த முடிவும் அடங்கியுள்ளதை நீங்கள் பார்க்க மறுப்பதன் விளைவுதான் ராஜரத்தினங்கள்.

குடும்பம் இருப்பவனுக்கு ஒரு சாப்பாடு. சத்திரத்தில் இருப்பவனுக்கு ‘பல’ சாப்பாடு. – இந்த இரண்டாவது வகையறாதானே பாதிரிகளும், சாமியார்களும். ஒரு மனிதனாக பிறந்தவனுக்கு பாலியல் தேவையென்பது ஒரு சாதாரண எதார்த்தத் தேவைதான். இதில் ஆச்சரியத்திற்கோ, அதிசயத்திற்கோ ஒன்றும் இடமில்லை. ஆனால் அதைமூடி மறைத்துக்கொண்டு, மக்களை ஏமாற்றி, மடமையில் ஆழ்த்தி, நம்பவைத்து கருவறுக்கின்ற காரியத்திற்கு ‘துறவு’ என்று ஒளிவட்டத்திற்குள் சல்லாபம் புரியும் இந்த கேடுகெட்ட கிரிமினல் கும்பலை, கும்மாளம் போடவிட்டு இன்னும் எத்தனை காலம் வேடிக்கைப் பார்ப்பீர்?!

இல்லை. இதற்கெல்லாம் எந்த சேசு சபை வந்து பதில் சொல்லப்போகிறது. 16வது அல்ல 100வது பெனடிக்ட் வந்தாலும் உங்களுக்கு பதில் கிடைக்கப்போவதில்லை. மாறாக கர்த்தர்மேல் பாரத்தைப் போடச் சொன்னார்கள். இருந்தே இருக்கிறது தவறாமல் எல்லாருக்கும் மறுகன்னம்.

இப்படியே தான் நாட்டின் ஒரு பெருங்கூட்டத்தை பக்தி என்கிற ஒரு கஞ்சா போதையில் வைத்திருக்கின்றன மதங்கள். ‘மதம் என்பது அபினி போன்றது’ என்று இந்த அவலத்தைத்தான் கார்ல் மார்க்ஸ் விளக்கினார்.

School marries off minors to help improve writing skills

In a bizarre act, a UK primary school has married off a five-year-old girl and sixyear-old boy to help pupils improve their writing skills, drawing sharp criticism from activists. The unusual nuptials were carried out in a Worcester parish church, with a vicar, registrar and parents watching it, media reports said.

A Mercedes car was donated to take the couple to church for the ceremony, which was followed by a full reception. Pupils of Warndon Primary School Callie and Gethyn were joined in matrimony on Thursday last week, the Daily Mail reported.

A week before the marriage, teachers took them and the rest of the Class 1 on a stag and hen night.

deputy head Sarah Allen was quoted as saying by the daily.

“I even had a five-year-old asking me about a fishtail dress design for the wedding dress. How about that for vocabulary? ... The children have been learning about everything from invitations to how to book a honeymoon.” The wedding has got backing from the Worcestershire county, with Councillor Marcus Hart saying “It’s fantastic to see this kind of creativity in our schools. It gives the pupils an opportunity to experience something new.. It not only stimulates their imaginations but expands their knowledge and understanding of language as well.” However, many activists said the marriage stunt was “crazy”. Nick Seaton, an education activist, said: “I think this is crazy. If children need to be taught to improve their writing the way to do that should be through learning grammar, spelling and through reading.” —PTI

Rev Cedric Miller, of Neptune, New Jersey, last week told 50 married church officials to delete their accounts with the social networking site or resign.

Rev Miller, 48, claimed that 20 couples from his 1,100-member church had experienced marital problems in recent months after contacting ex-partners through the site.

But over the weekend Rev Miller's local newspaper disclosed that he "didn't need Facebook to be part of an extramarital affair".

It found transcripts from a criminal trial against the church assistant in 2003, in which details emerged of what Rev Miller has since called "a very painful part of my past".

In the case, which was eventually dismissed, he testified that his wife, Kim, had an affair with the assistant, and that he and the man's wife were often present at their meetings.

"I mean between the four of us," Rev Miller said. "It was just, I mean there was touching ... it was crazy, it was as wrong as wrong could get."

Asked by a lawyer whether he was talking about "sex", Rev Miller replied: "Yes". He described their behaviour as "beyond what was appropriate".

Rev Miller told the court that the meetings between the couples often took place after Thursday Bible study sessions and after church services on Sundays.

He said in a statement: "This was resolved at that time and accordingly we will not allow it to detract from our mission at hand to save as many marriages as we can."

A US pastor who said Facebook was a "portal to infidelity" and told married church leaders to delete their accounts or resign once testified that he had a four-way sexual relationship with his wife, a male church assistant and the assistant's wife.

The Reverend Cedric Miller (48) from New Jersey confirmed the reports, which cited testimony he gave in a criminal case in 2003. The relationship had ended by that time.

"We had crossed the line many times...between the four of us. It was crazy, it was as wrong as wrong could get," the pastor testified at the time.

Miller gained national attention when he issued the Facebook edict this week. He said it came about because much of the marital counselling he has performed recently has concerned infidelity stemming from the social-networking website.

Miller told the court that the meetings between the couples often took place after Thursday Bible study sessions and after church services on Sundays.

Miller said in a statement: "This was resolved at that time and accordingly we will not allow it to detract from our mission at hand to save as many marriages as we can."

He said that his church leaders and other pastors were notified of the affair years ago.

Mizo church shut after sex on porch

Aizawl: A church in Mizoram has been closed down for a week after an unmarried couple desecrated the house of worship by having sex on its porch.
The couple was caught having sex on the porch of the United Pentecostal Church (Northeast India),located at Darnam locality in Serchhip,on the night of November 14 by Vanlalsanga,a church elder.
The act of sex on the premises of the church was considered a blasphemy and the church was closed for a week till November 21.It was opened the following day after a pastoral board meeting pardoned the couple, Vanlalsanga said on Thursday.
Most of the church denominations in the state regard premarital sex as a grievous sin and having sex on the church premises an extremely blasphemous act. Earlier,some churches have been dismantled due to desecration of holy places by couples and were opened again only after rebuilding and cleansing of their premises.In the incident at the United Pentecostal Church,the meeting of the Pastoral Board decided not to dismantle the church as the act was performed on the porch.TNN

The Roman Catholic Church is holding an extraordinary meeting to discuss sexual abuse of children by priests and conversion of people from the Anglican to the Catholic Church.

The closed-door meeting on Friday of more than 100 of the Church's 203 cardinals from around the world at the Vatican will also cover debates on religious freedoms.

Controversy over the abuse of children in the institution has dogged the Church for decades, and victims of sexual abuse were protesting in Rome to coincide with the meeting. They are calling for greater protection of children from future abuse by priests.

"We want the bishops to turn over to police and prosecutors the personnel files of proven, admitted and credibly accused child-molesting clerics," said Barbara Blaine, a leader of the US-based Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (Snap).

'Shocked'

Pope Benedict XVI invited the cardinals for the meetings ahead of the release next week of a book of his interviews entitled "Light of the World: The Pope, the Church and the Signs of the Times".

In it he admits he was "shocked" by the hundreds of molestation cases blamed on priests that have come to light.

Religious liberties have been highlighted recently with the Vatican on Thursday warning China not to force bishops loyal to the pope to attend the ordination of a bishop who is a member of the state-backed church that does not recognise the pontiff.

The Vatican has also urged Islamic countries, particularly Saudi Arabia, to allow greater religious freedom for Christians.

New ordinariate

Separatly, the Church announced on Friday that it had decided to establish an ordinariate for disaffected Anglicans to be set up in England and Wales in January.

The ordinariate - a Church subdivision retaining some Anglican traditions - would take in bishops, priests and laity over the following months.

Church leaders said that five traditionalist Church of England bishops have applied to join the ordinariate, and about 30 groups of parishioners are due to cross over from the Anglican Church.

The meeting is taking place on the eve of a ceremony known as a consistory at which the pope will create 24 new cardinals, including 20 who are under 80 and thus eligible to enter a secret conclave to elect his successor.

Chennai: Christian groups,under the umbrella of Joint Christian Action,on Saturday urged the government to formulate a law to protect Christian properties and assets worth thousands of crores of rupees which they said are being managed in a lawless manner.
Christian churches in India have thousands of crores rupees worth of property and assets,which are outside the regulatory control of any law.The community has practically no say in the administration of these huge assets,which are being squandered and misappropriated by the priestly class.This has led to a huge resentment and unrest building up in the community, the Joint Christian Action said in a statement after a meeting attended,among others,by former Supreme Court judge K T Thomas and former bureaucrat M G Devasahayam.
The act could be on the lines of the Muslim Wakf Act,Hindu Endowment Law or the Sikh Gurudwara Act, said Devasahayam.Drawing a parallel with the recent 2G spectrum scam,Devasahayam said scams in churches,diocese and the Archdiocese were bigger than the 2G scam and the need of the hour was to enact a law to protect church wealth.

French child sex abuser worked as tour guide in city

Chennai: A French child sex abuser,who was on the run after a French court convi-cted him was held here on Tuesday.On Saturday,the CB-CID wing got specific information from the CBI,the Indian arm of Interpol,that Eric Martin could be in Chennai.The agency also passed on a mobile number,which could be used by a person to contact Martin.A CB-CID team,led by DIG P Kannappan and superintendent of police G Sampath Kumar,tracked the french national and arrested him.
Martin has been working here as a guide to French tourists and translating French books to English.When the police nabbed him,Martin had no documents to validate his stay in the country.Police said he might have got financial help from his friends in France.His wife and children left him after he was arrested for sexually abusing minor girls between 1996 and 1999.
We will hand Martin over to the French police.Further procedures against him would be taken by the French authorities after we produce him in court on Wednesday, Kannappan said.
Police searched his house for evidence of the any sexual abuse which he might have done here.Details of materials seized from the house were not released.Police said Martin,who might have been living in Chennai for five to six years,is guilty of two offenses impersonation and staying without valid documents.If we get evidence of any grave offenses which he might have committed here,then his extradition will have to wait.Otherwise,we will go ahead with the extradition and hand him over to the French police, Sampath Kumar said.

HC asks priest accused of rape to surrender by Nov 8

Madurai: The Madurai bench of the Madras high court has directed the former principal of St Josephs College in Tiruchi to surrender before the police on or before November 8 in connection with an alleged case of rape of a nun.
Granting anticipatory bail to Fr R Rajarathinam on Wednesday,Justice G Rajasurya directed him to fully cooperate with the police inquiry.
On October 12,the prestigious 165-year-old institute,which boasts of several high profile alumni,grabbed the headlines when a 31-year-old nun approached the police,alleging that Rajarathinam had raped her in 2006 after offering her a soft drink laced with sedatives.She alleged that he had also taken nude photographs of her on his mobile phone and threatened to make them public if she complained.She accused Rajarathinam of raping her again in 2008,after which she become pregnant and was forced to undergo an abortion.
In her complaint,the nun said Rajarathinam had threatened her with dire consequences if she revealed his act to others.Later,he took her out to several places and raped her,she alleged.
A case under IPC Sections 376 (rape) and 506 (1) (criminal intimidation) was registered recently.Subsequently,the priest,who was removed from the post of principal of St Josephs college,filed for anticipatory bail.
The court directed that the priest should present himself at an all-women police station in Tiruchi and sign every day.Justice Rajasurya said Rajarathinam should be presented before a judicial magistrate in Tiruchi the day after his surrender.If warranted,the police could also move the judicial magistrate court for medical examination of Rajarathinam,he said,adding that the latter should submit himself for the examination.
The court also granted anticipatory bail to three others,including Father Devados of the Society of Jesus,its legal advisor Joe Xavier and an employee of the society Xavier,who had allegedly threatened the nun against going ahead with the case against Rajarathinam.

The mysterious death of a schoolgirl at Omalur near here four years ago is inching closer to being solved with the state crime branch police zeroing in on eight suspects and sending their blood samples for DNA analysis, sources here said.

They said the blood samples were taken last month to match them with the DNA of spermatozoa (semen) found in the vaginal swab taken from the eleventh class girl, Sukanya, whose body was found floating in the school well in November 2006.

"All the eight men are associated with the school, including a friend of a priest-teacher in the institution. We are expecting the result next month and then we can catch the culprit," a senior police officer said.

The mysterious death of a schoolgirl at Omalur near here four years ago is inching closer to being solved with the state crime branch police zeroing in on eight suspects and sending their blood samples for DNA analysis, sources here said.

They said the blood samples were taken last month to match them with the DNA of spermatozoa (semen) found in the vaginal swab taken from the

eleventh class girl, Sukanya, whose body was found floating in the school well in November 2006.

"All the eight men are associated with the school, including a friend of a priest-teacher in the institution. We are expecting the result next month and then we can catch the culprit,” a senior police officer told Deccan Chronicle.

“We reopened the case and found discrepancies in the initial reports, including the postmortem finding. If there

was no rape, how did the vaginal swab reveal presence of spermatozoa? While we did not find signs of murder, we must find out why she committed suicide, if that was how her death happened,” the officer said.

He said the investigating team found liquor bottles and pornography with one priest-teacher in that school.

“But he does not figure in our list of suspects though his friend does. The DNA test results should unravel the mystery,” the officer added.

ALAPPUZHA: Crime Branch IG R Sreelekha on Friday interrogated the priests, nuns and the maid of the ACCEPT Counselling and Aftercare Centre, functioning under the Archdiocese of Chaganassery, in connection with the death of Shreya, 12, who was found dead in a pond on the premises of the centre on October 17.

Seelekha also visited the parents of Shreya. Later, she told Express that she visited Shreya’s home and ACCEPT according to the direction of DGP Jacob Punnoose. Shreya’s parents had lodged a complaint with Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan on October 25 demanding a detailed inquiry into the case.

It was following this that the Chief Minister handed over the case to DGP Jacob Punnoose. Shreya, daughter of Benny, Ezharaparayil, Kaithavana, a standard seven student, went to ACCEPT along with her 67 classmates of Sunday School to attend a twoday camp organised by a team of the Archdiocese of Changanassery.

Though the local police, led by Alappuzha South CI V K Sanal Kumar, have been conducting an investigation into the incident, they have not been able to solve the mystery that shrouds the death of the girl.

Though the police claimed that Shreya purposefully came out of her room on October 16, the police still have no idea how she went to the pond which is around 100 metres away from her room.

Meanwhile, Sr Sneha, the nun who stayed with Shreya along with 10 other girls on the night of October 16, told Express that their room had no proper lock and Shreya was sleeping near the door. “We came to know that Shreya was missing only around 6.45 a.m. on October 17″, Sr Sneha said.

She said that the maid at the centre, who was staying alone in a room, had sent a missed call to ACCEPT assistant director Fr Mathukutty after she noticed the dogs barking.

“Following this, Fr Mathukutty came to our room and enquired about the children. However, I told him that nothing was wrong as I was unaware that Shreya was missing,” Sr Sneha said.

Meanwhile, a priest said that a person had informed the centre that he had seen Shreya’s father near the centre around midnight on October 16.

Death of girl: IG begins probe

ALAPPUZHA: Inspector General (Crime Branch) R. Sreelekha on Friday began a probe into the death of a 12-year-old girl, whose body was found lying in a pond on the premises of the Accept Krupa Bhavan at Kalarkode here on October 17.

The girl, who was attending a personality development camp at the institution, went missing and her body was found a few hours later in the pond. The girl’s parents submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan demanding a proper investigation.

Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, who visited the girl’s parents here last week, had assured a thorough probe, after which Ms. Sreelekha was entrusted with the job. Ms. Sreelekha, who arrived here on Friday, inspected the pond and the room in which the girl was last seen and questioned two priests and three nuns. Ms. Sreelekha later called upon the girl’s parents. However, the senior police official, when contacted, said she could not comment on the investigation now.
